Below, are more details about each of them:

NXT COMMUNITY

  • Ardor – Advanced Users of Nxt Give a Hand in Tuning it Up

Riker, one of the Nxt and Ardor core developers, has invited users on NxtChat on Slack for some volunteers who have a solid knowledge of Nxt to test the new Ardor software on the testnet, in order to speed up the opening of the testnet to general users, which is expected to happen in the near future.

Lior says:

As we are wrapping up the Ardor testnet release, and before we release it publicly, we are looking for power users who know NXT 1.x well to join us in testing the platform. This would be a volunteer base work (unless some whale would like to put an NXT or Ardor bounty for this). You have to be very technical, not easily frustrated and if you have prior background in software development and testing that’s a big plus.
What you will get is:
Access to an Ardor testnet public node first, then access to a binary distribution, and the chance to work with folks like JL, myself and other core devs side by side, who knows, perhaps this would also develop into an employment opportunity in the future.
Most important is UI testing. API testing is important as well. We need someone to test processes like create a poll, vote, check the results. Create an asset, send multiple ask/bid orders and verify that the trade results are correct etc. No need for coding but if know how to place a breakpoint in JavaScript code and check some variables values that’s a big plus.

It seems that things are running smoothly and this pre-release test will help refine some minor details to make Ardor, at least, as stable as Nxt has been throughout all these years. Ardor is on its way.

  • Nxtforum.org – 1000 New Users in January

We are to be excited! Throughout January, a thousand new members have joined Nxtforum. This is the second month in a row that this membership growth figure has been achieved. This large amount of newcomers, which is starting to become a regular occurrence, is a good sign of the interest that blockchain enthusiasts have put in Nxt and Ardor, which also seems to reflect on the price rise that Ardor has experienced during the past few weeks.

[easy-tweet tweet=”I am also a member of the Nxt community” user=”https://twitter.com/nxtcommunity” hashtags=”#Nxt #Ardor #Nxter” url=”https://nxtforum.org/”]

We’d like to encourage our readers to sign up and become a member of this growing community. Or, if you prefer, you can also join the Nxt community using the following platforms:

  • Janus – First Dividend Payment from Betterbets

The Janus team has distributed the first dividend payment coming from Betterbets.io, the betting platform that belongs to Janus, among its investors. The recent successful integration of ShapeShift in this platform allows the players to buy NXT using other cryptos and place their bets straight on this platform with NXT.

Moreover, the volume of bets that were placed using NXT has been quite remarkable. Bjorn, member of the Janus team, explained:

Just to give a recap for stats sake, it’s been about 11 days since NXT on Betterbets.io went live without downtime. Total:   Bets: 965,920   Wagered: 2,255,526 NXT.
NXT stats at almost 1 million bets isn’t too bad really. Over 2 million in volume wagered, also solid. I don’t yet have the numbers for number of shapeshift.io purchases on site but will monitor this as well…

  • Liquidtech – Nice Dividend Payment

The LQD asset, managed by LibertyNow, has had a dividend distribution for the month of January with the equivalent of 3.4 BTC distributed among  investors, in the form of NXT and ARDR. Each investor received, in their respective Nxt accounts, 0.64 NXT plus 0.21 ARDR for every unit of LQD they own. This has been a good month for investors, with an ROI of 10.88%

It seems as if the tune up that LibertyNow performed on his bot in order to achieve the maximum profit (while reducing loses when markets don’t behave rationally) is starting to bear fruit. Liquid Technologies is well-known for its transparency. You can check, in real time, all operations of the fund at http://www.liquidtech.info/trades

LibertyNow commented:

After running a couple polls, I decided to split the dividend payment between ARDR and NXT. Everyone should see two dividend transactions in their accounts…one as a NXT payment and one as an asset transfer (the ARDR). The dividends totaled about 3.4BTC and new software updates seem to be chugging along quite nicely.

  • Ardor – Testnet Countdown

In our previous newsletter, we mentioned a list of pending tasks that Riker shared with a thread at Nxtforum. These tasks help give indication on the upcoming release of Ardor’s testnet, which will happen soon after all of them are fulfilled. The server code is almost completed and the APIs are stable, so there isn’t much left.

Riker says:

Things are looking good overall. One thing for sure, we are going to confuse you a bit with the fee structure from bundlers to forgers so be patient. Still hesitant if to open the testing to more people since currently it is much quicker to find bugs than to fix them. Whoever already has access is welcome to continue testing and if all goes well I’ll open this up for more testers in the next couple of days.

TO-DO list (updated as of February the 6th, 2017)

More work on the Coin Exchange page and tables (Needs more testing)

  • Invest It In – Adel, The Kickstarter for ICOs

A few weeks ago, we mentioned the announcement of Adel, a new cryptocurrency ecosystem that benefits from the technology of Nxt to create, develop, and implement use cases involving blockchain technology that covers a wide-range of digital and physical industries. The platform itself will have DAO-like qualities backed by a global cryptocurrency, the Adelphoi token, which will be released after the first round of the ICO.

Adel has recently been mentioned at Invest It In. Travin Keith, Marketing Manager of Adel and  Board Member of the Nxt Foundation, explains in this interview titled “The Kickstarter for ICO’s” about both of Adel’s objectives and the benefits that the Nxt platform brings, as well as the role that the community will play.

Travin explains in the interview:

Adel is trying to solve the lack of a platform for blockchain projects that doesn’t just help with launching the project with funds, but also provides support and guidance throughout the whole life of a project. Adel also aims to actively engage its community members in the projects and can also connect the projects with VCs for further funding if necessary…
Is Adel a decentralised organisation? – Yes, absolutely. While the Adel Board and staff will be providing guidance and support to the projects launched on Adel, major decisions… are decided with a vote by the community members…
…Smart Transactions… will be used for voting…
…it was deemed to be more ideal to use the Nxt blockchain… as well as the upcoming Ardor blockchain…smart transactions…phased transactions… One of the other features that Adel will utilize is the decentralized voting system for the polls that will be run for the community regarding major decisions
…The R&D team will release a few more projects before the ICO that will be proposed to the community.
…The DAO and Wings would probably be the most similar system in the crypto community… Compared with The DAO, Adel will have a more stable structure around it with guidance from the Adel Board, as well as support from the staff before projects are introduced to the community… The smart contract scenario that ruined The DAO will not be possible with Adel… unlike Wings, projects on Adel will not be limited to blockchain projects that support Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) functionality… While the Nxt and Ardor platforms will have the first right of refusal, if other blockchain solutions are needed for projects, then it will be possible to use other blockchain solutions…

Recently, as a sneak preview, Adel’s R&D team has shared their very first project to be proposed to the community, a P2P ATM which will allow users to find people nearby who are willing to exchange coins and cash on-demand.

  • Fintech Finance – Creating Value With Cryptocurrencies

The online magazine Fintech Finance has syndicated the fourth whitepaper of Adel, which has been recently published. The article called Creating Value with Cryptocurrency goes over the possibilities that blockchain 2.0 brings to both financial and administrative sectors (mobility, resilience, privacy, cryptographic proof, improved financial system, lower transaction fees…) and the advantages that the 100% decentralized and revolutionary technologies that Nxt and Ardor platforms can offer, to build up a project as big as Adel. These traits include: PoS decentralized blockchain, phased transactions, monetary system, decentralized voting, decentralized marketplace, shuffling, and a decentralized asset exchange.

The article explains that the value of Adel is in leveraging a state-of-the-art blockchain such as Nxt and Ardor, as well as the Adel ecosystem, and then combining these technologies with best-in-class business practices. Some of the advantages of the Adel ecosystem enumerated in the whitepaper are:

Project Approvals: The establishment of a Project Review Committee which not only ensures that Adel will launch profitable businesses, but also represents legitimate, legal and ethical projects… Successful projects will prove sustainable, long-term growth, as well as global monetization potential for blockchain technologies.
Decision Leadership: …utilizing expert decision makers to guide decisions in the community. Once a decision has been authorized by the leadership, it is then submitted to the community for consensus, enhancement and further decisions…
Open & Transparent: … auditable financial transactions for all projects and provides the foundation for a self-regulated community capable of making important economic decisions. The voting system establishes the opinion of the majority… Social forums allow for open and constructive communications between community members…
Integrity: … Adel’s integrity is the foundation of our success and for the sustainability of a profitable ecosystem…
Support : After a project has been launched on Adel… the project manager will be adequately supported by the Adel staff, as well as community members participating throughout the lifetime of the project… in the form of expert advisory services, finding employees, and assistance with securing external funding, such as with venture capitalists.

  • Search Engine Journal – Transforming Technology With Raspberry Pi

In this article at Search Engine Journal, Travin Keith, Board Member of the Nxt Foundation, goes over the revolution that the Raspberry Pi has caused in the tech world since its launch. The wide adoption of this small device, together with the communities that has emerged support this open-source project has allowed it.

All together, the Raspberry Pi has enabled the development of thousands of projects that rely on this inexpensive device. The article goes over some of them, but what stands out among the projects mentioned is the inclusion of the RasPi in the blockchain world, specifically with the Nxt blockchain. With Nxt being the first and most evolved PoS platform, which has showed its security and resilience by running smoothly over the past three years, it still doesn’t require a network of super computers (that consume as much energy that a nuclear power plant can generate) to run.

By setting up a Nxt node on a Raspberry Pi, you can easily participate in the Nxt ecosystem and help the block generation process in this feature-filled blockchain (called forging in Nxt), with an energy consumption of just a few watts per hour, which is probably less than the standby mode of your microwave. Such is an unimaginable achievement for PoW coins like Bitcoin. Additionally, as we mentioned in our previous newsletter, there are prototypes of solar-powered Nxt nodes built using a Raspberry Pi, such as the one made by Zuqka.

Janus ICO cancelled!

Today, the Janus Team cancelled their ICO.
All Bitcoins raised will be returned to the investors.

The Janus token Nxt AE ID is 4348103880042995903.
The tokens will be put for sale on the Nxt AE, for immediate purchase and trading. Read on.

Bjorn_bb writes:

Thank you to everyone who has supported our team and the Janus project. We have come to a decision that it’s best for all parties to end the token sale as it stands in it’s current form. We have added an option in your accounts to save a BTC or NXT address on the site that will be used to send refunds back to you. The Nxt Foundation will then receive information about the amount you deposited, and the wallet address you supply to send your investment back. You’ll have up to 45 days to make the request, but we ask that you make it a priority so we can get this finished in short time. Visit www.janustoken.com and log into your account to add your refund addresses.

Those who wish to stay with our team and business goals can still share in our future to some degree.

We’ll be actively in development of the sites described in our white paper, and as such will release Janus tokens on the NXT Asset Exchange in intervals.

— We will release 10,500,000 Janus (JNS) every 4 months. 31,500,000 yearly —

— Price currently is set to 1.5 NXT per 1 Janus token. You can purchase tokens right now in your NXT wallets on the asset exchange —

Price per Janus each distribution will be changed every 4 months no matter what the current price it’s trading at, it will be posted 50-100% higher.

— Asset details listed here (be sure it’s the correct token):

Name: Janus
Asset Id: 4348103880042995903
Issuer: NXT-QG74-VNQK-7FQ3-4KFBA

https://www.mynxt.info/asset/4348103880042995903

One of the suggestions from the community was to allow for a staggered investment cycle in order to show business progress and launch over time. This way will allow those who did not purchase Janus initially, to still have a chance to take part in our mainstream global business success. Instead of dividends, our team will use site revenue to perform unscheduled buybacks to reduce supply and help appreciate token value. (People unfamiliar with our business in the blockchain industry, please research https://betterbets.io )

We’ll keep all Janus users aware of progress and announcements via this thread, slack, and social media where applicable. Our team is much better at creating great sites and businesses than selling out ICO’s so this is the best way to show it through action and development.

Yours in business,

The Janus team

**We’ll be gradually adding buy support over time to prepare for proper valuation when Janus is announced on more exchanges.**

How to market a decentralised, open source organisation

nxt-evildave

By: Dave ‘EvilDave’ Pearce

Origins of the Nxt Foundation….

One of the great strengths of Nxt, and of the wider Nxt community, is that it has always been intended, from the initial Nxt concept onwards, that Nxt would be a strongly decentralised community.

A very useful guide to the basic principles of decentralised organisation can be found in ‘The Starfish and the Spider’ by Ori Brafma:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Starfish_and_the_Spider

A decentralised organisation may be fine for certain applications (such as an activist movement) but for a software system that needs to interface with the wider business community, how can decentralisation work effectively ?

This issue cropped up very early on in Nxt development, giving rise to further questions:

  • Nxt is a brilliant system to build business applications on, but how does a business get in touch with a decentralised movement like the Nxt community?
  • How does a business enter into a legal agreement with Nxt, or receive support?
  • How can Nxt be promoted to businesses, or carry out PR ?

The answers to all of the above led to the set-up of the Nxt Foundation, which (if we go back to the ‘Starfish’ analogy) can be seen as a specialised organ for Nxt, like an extra leg for the starfish.

forkpay-banner3

The Foundation was created to act as a sub-section of the Nxt eco-system that is responsible for linking the decentralised, open-source community of Nxt with the very much centralised mainstream business and finance world. In effect acting as a gateway between the decentralised crypto world and the centralised mainstream worlds of business, finance and governance.

The Foundation was initially (informally) set up in mid 2014, by a group of veterans of the fledgling Nxt community. The main personnel involved are: Tai ‘Tai Zen’ Duong, David ‘EvilDave’ Pearce, Bas ‘Damelon’ Wisselink, Dirk ‘LocoMB’ Reuter and Ian ‘Chanc3r’ Ravenscroft. As befits a decentralised orgainisation, the initial founding members represented a wide range of viewpoints and possessed a very wide range of skills.

This group first met in real life as representatives for Nxt at the groundbreaking BitCoin2014 conference, held in Amsterdam, and worked so well together that they decided to carry on under the then informal banner of the Nxt Foundation.

Initially simply a loose group intended as a contact point for businesses, the Nxt Foundation proved themselves to be very useful to Nxt, and began to evolve into a fully fledged business unit with wider ranging responsibilities.

The Foundation was registered and incorporated at the start of 2015 as a non-profit business in the Netherlands, under the title of ‘Stichting Nxt/Nxt Foundation’ with the goal of supporting Nxt development and expansion.

Since then, the Nxt Foundation has continued to function as a contact point for businesses who wish to work with Nxt , and has also taken on other responsibilities: the purchase and maintenance of essential software, such as SSL and code signing certificates, developer licenses and hosting for Nxt-core related sites.

Most recently, the Foundation identified some areas that needed to be improved within Nxt, and set up the Tennessee project to address those areas.

Entering Tennessee…..

Towards mid-2015, it became increasingly obvious that Nxt needed to change to meet the demands of a rapidly changing crypto-currency market: many mainstream players were entering the market, bringing with them from the mainstream business/finance world a more professional approach to project management and a much more aggressive approach to PR and marketing.

A decentralised (and somewhat under-funded) project that relied on volunteer work, like Nxt, could not compete on an equal footing with the professional marketing and PR employed by this new wave of crypto projects.

Individual projects based on Nxt, usually with a defined project leader or a small group of leaders, could easily choose for themselves whether or not to follow this trend, or how to respond to the changes in the market, but for the Nxt core (and the wider Nxt community) a solution had to be found to address this situation.

Thus the Tennessee project was proposed: the Nxt Foundation analysed and explained the current market situation to the community, and asked them to donate to a Foundation- administered fund set up purely to professionalise and improve two basic elements of the Nxt core project: Marketing/PR and the user experience. The estimated budget to run Tennessee for a year (on the basis of two part-time employees) was approximately $70,000 or 10 million NXT.

tnsse-crowdfunding-nxt

This sum was raised via crowdfunding (using the Nxt Monetary System) inside 2 weeks, and Tennessee went live at the start of November 2015.

TNSSE has now been officially in existence for just under 4 weeks and has, so far:

Organised salary payouts for the 2 main (part-time) Tennessee personnel for the following 12 months, ensuring that there will be a coherent marketing/PR presence for Nxt over that time.

Hired a media contact consultant, the UK-based John Mcleod, on a contract basis, initially for 3 months with the possibility to extend that period. John’s function is to pro-actively seek out and cultivate both mainstream and crypto media contacts for Tennessee and Nxt.

With John’s help, Tennessee has created and published 2 stories on aspects of Nxt over the last week:

https://news.bitcoin.com/interview-nxt-foundations-dave-pearce/

http://allcoinsnews.com/2015/11/21/nxt-foundation-positions-platform-to-entirely-replace-legacy-banking-systems/

And one radio interview:
https://www.mixcloud.com/Resonance/password-18-11-15/

These three pieces are just the start of the media campaign. TNSSE allows Nxt to build up longer term relationships with media outlets, and these relationships will lead to more regular information about Nxt appearing in crypto (and more mainstream) media.

Tennessee has also began the process of overhauling the Nxt web presence, with www.nxt.org as the first site to be updated, using Farla Webmedia as an external contractor.

An important feature of the new www.nxt.org site will be an easy to use helpdesk system, which will give Nxt a unique advantage over other crypto-currency projects.

The Nxt Foundation/Tennessee has also begun to work out a conference attendance strategy for the following year, with a proposed Nxt-centred conference in the first half of 2016, and a Nxt presence at the upcoming d10e event in Amsterdam:
http://www.d10e.org/#amsterdam

So, coming back to the original question: how does a decentralised community promote itself to the outside world ?

Nxt has shown, with the creation of the Nxt Foundation and subsequently the Tennessee project, that organically created specialised systems can be set up to fulfil this specific function, without sacrificing any of the openness and decentralisation that give the Nxt community a great degree of both flexibility and strength.

See below for further details.

Why we need your support

This project needs support from the community: morally and financially.

Morally: we need your support to help sustain our motivation. If our project doesn’t have the community’s support, we have no reason to continue working on it.

Financially: we need your support so that we can create high quality publications of the book in paper form, starting with the English Language version.

Each copy sold during the campaign will be numbered and signed by Ludom on behalf of Nxter Magazine and Plaisir d’histoire.

Over time, as Nxt becomes established as a financial ecosystem, it is anticipated that the book will become an increasingly valuable collector’s item.

Our projected costs are:

  • Printing cost: 200 books
    (150mm x 220 mm, 136 + 4 pages,
    Interior B/W 90gr Premium,
    Couverture Quadri 235gr Integra Antalis,
    Spine Sewn and glued).
  • Shipping cost, taxes and custom fees (30% of the book’s price).
  • Miscellaneous costs: ISBN and Swiss National Library registration of the books, shipping of the books for the contributors (writers, editors and translators).

Plaisir d’histoire will pay the FIAT bills but wants to be reimbursed in crypto-currencies, assets and MScoins.

Nxter Magazine and Plaisir d’histoire need 200’000 NXT or its equivalent in value in other crytocurrencies, assets or MScoins to produce and deliver a high quality paper version of the book in English.

When the books have been printed, a confirmatory message to that effect will be sent to the assets/MScoin holders. As soon as each holder sends us back the token with their physical address, Plaisir d’histoire will send the book(s) to their address.

Where any part of the campaign fails to meets its objectives, we will buy back the tokens concerned.

Free donations and account leasing

Feel free to make donation to the account NXT-DE5P-4A5T-6SHU-7FHCV. We accept everything:

NXT, assets, MScoins, alias, nice messages and anything-else you like.

During the crowdfunding campaign, the account will be forging all the time, the forging revenues will be part of the funding. You can lease your account to support the project.

I want to help in some other way

Contact Ludom of Plaisir d’histoire: ludom@test.nxter.org or NXT-DE5P-4A5T-6SHU-7FHCV

What are the goals

The main goal: English paper book

We want to publish a really good quality book in English. We don’t want to use the print-on-demand solution because the print quality is bad and the profits are tiny.

To print 200 books, we need 200’000 NXT of crypto-value. All the NXT, assets and the MScoins are in the “First Nxt book” account NXT-DE5P-4A5T-6SHU-7FHCV.

The campaign will end on the 5th January 2015.

Updates of the estimated value of the ‘First Nxt book’ portfolio will be published regularly on Nxtforum.

Secondary goals: other language versions of the book

Since there would certainly be less demand for editions of the book in other languages, we are putting forward the following proposals:

20 e-books: translation into any of the other 4 languages: Russian, French, Spanish and Chinese.

If 20 assets of an e-book in one of the above languages are sold, we will begin translating it into that language. You can buy as many assets as you want to support your own language version of the book.

50 e-books: paper book published as Print-on-demand

If 50 assets of an e-book in a particular language are sold, we will launch the corresponding asset PbookXXX and the MScoins (x3, x10 and x50). You will then be able to buy the paper book in this language.

Subject as provided below, the quality of the book will be ‘Print-on-Demand’.

30 paper books + 150k NXT: paper book ‘best quality’

After the main goal of 200k NXT has been reached, for every additional 150k NXT, we will publish the book in a new language in the same quality as the English language version.

To qualify for high quality publication, a minimum of 30 copies of the particular language version of the book must have been purchased. Where two or more language versions of the book qualify, the best seller will be the one chosen.

FAQ

Who am I?

My name is Lionel Jeannerat (‘Ludom’ on Nxtforum). I’m a Swiss. I work freelance in History and game design and carry on a publishing business under the name Plaisir d’histoire. I am responsible for managing this campaign and the logistical aspects of publishing the book.  My website is: http://www.plaisirdhistoire.ch/

I’m working with the core team of Nxter.org, the Nxter Magazine. They are responsible for editing and translating the book. Their website is: http://test.nxter.org/

We are all well-known and, we like to think, trusted in the Nxt community.

What will we do if the goals are not reached?

First, we’ll all be very disappointed!

Second, I’ll rebuy every asset that can’t be exchanged with the promised product.

The articles are already available to read, so why should you support us?

Yes, it’s true. You can already read the articles for free, at least in their original languages: http://test.nxter.org/nxt-2nd-birthday/

But our ambition extends beyond this campaign.

Our future projects

Nxter Magazine and Plaisir d’histoire want to build new projects on the Nxt platform. This campaign is the first of the projects we are planning based on the Nxt platform.

The Nxt marketing

An excellent, beautifully produced book about Nxt is a great tool for Nxt marketing. A PDF or a cheap Print-on-demand Book is a poor substitute for that. And, if we have books in other languages, we can of course reach more people.

We want to print more books than are sold during the campaign. Having a good stock available in each language will enable us to market it, and therefore Nxt, more effectively.

To that end we want to increase the book’s distribution via online and physicals books shops.

A new example of the use of Nxt platform

As you can see, we will be using every feature of Nxt in our crowdfunding campaign. Nxt needs its crowdfunding platform to be used in as many different ways as possible in order for its flexibility and effectiveness to be fully demonstrated. The success of our campaign will provide a further demonstration of the power of Nxt.

If the campaign is as big a success as you envisage, what will you do with the extra funding?

We won’t make any profit until the book is published in each language: English, French, Chinese, Russian and Spanish. And we need 200k + 150k + 150k + 150k + 150k NXT = 800k NXT for that.

If we funded more than that, it would mean that we would have sold more and the shipping cost would therefore be bigger too. Firstly, I would pay the extra cost with the extra funds.

After that, the surplus (i.e. the profit) would be shared between the contributors (1/3), Nxter.org (1/3) and Plaisir d’histoire (1/3). This revenue would be used to reward the writers, editors and translators, and to prefund our future projects on the Nxt platform.

What will we do with the funding?

Plaisir d’histoire will pay every FIAT bill of the project. If the costs don’t exceed what is planned, there is no reason to sell any of the fund.

Plaisir d’histoire pays in FIAT and receive the equivalence NXT and/or assets, that’s it.

If there is good liquidity to sell them, I’ll do it during and after the campaign. But we don’t want to crash the price of any token. If people want to buy some of our assets, they can propose their price.  This would be another good way to help us meet our objectives and therefore help Nxt. Contact me at ludom@test.nxter.org

Bitscan.com: Farlaweb share issue: business on the blockchain

Bitscan.com writes:

Crypto offers massive benefits. It’s transparent, borderless, efficient and fast. I chatted to Peter Farla, a web designer who has recently used the crowdfunding potential of the blockchain.

1) So, who are you and what do you do?

My name is Peter Farla and I live with my girlfriend and our dog in the Netherlands. Since elementary school I’ve been interested in running a business. I started my own environment protection company at the age of 9 and collected money for non-profit organizations every month by doing tasks together with my ‘employees’. I like the magic of creating my own business and making that successful. After high school I studied Multimedia Design. We didn’t learn much about internet development, but about CD-ROM productions. In those days (late 90s) CD-ROMs were the future. Haha, they bet on the wrong horse…

2) What prompted you to issue a cryptostock for your business?

I’ve been into Nxt since late 2013. I was very impressed about the possibilities it has to offer. Nxt is becoming more and more a platform for business. I wanted to expand my business and needed a financial boost for that. I love the Nxt Asset Exchange and use it all the time, looking for business opportunities. I thought, Why don’t I try it for Farla Webmedia? …

Tennessee Project: Working on the NXT Frontier

Since the launch of the NXT platform the main focus has been on the tech: NXT Currency, Asset Exchange, Monetary System, Marketplace, Arbitrary Messaging, Alias System, … So many features and possibilities.

Whilst the tech undoubtedly gives NXT a big potential advantage over competing platforms, it seems every time a new technological innovation is added to the NXT platform it actually results in a price drop. Why? Presumably because the platform, in all its ever-increasing functionality, is not intuitively easy to use, nor easy to explain. Let’s face it, it’s not for the average joe… At least not yet.

This is where the Tennessee Project wants to step in and make a change. With all the focus on technological advancements, the marketing has been neglected resulting in a declining adoption rate and a gradual price drop.

The project’s goal is to push NXT marketing and promotion to a professional level over the next 12 months while at the same time making it easier to use for the average joe.

Not a small task to take on, but a great team has been assembled including, at its heart, Bas Wisselink (Damelon) and Dave Pearce (EvilDave), who will each receive a part-time salary on a self-employed basis, allowing them to work freely on Tennessee, in addition to their other tasks within the Nxt community. They will work closely together with NXT core developers Jean-Luc and Lyaffe. Several components of Tennessee will also require paid outside contractors. The Tennessee Project will be run under the banner of the Nxt Foundation.

A professional project of this size needs serious funding. The project is looking to raise 10 million NXT in order to function for 12 months. The Monetary System will be used to raise the funds. EvilDave has issued the TNSSE currency with account NXT-P439-YVBD-VUEQ-A3S2T

We have already started an informal fundraising project among NXT businesses and stakeholders to raise the minimum of 10 million NXT, and we are happy to say we have already received firm pledges for up to 5.5 million from Nxt investors and stake-holders.

The funding will end on Monday October 26. If the target 10 million NXT is reached, all funds will be transferred to the Tennessee account. If it is not reached, all funds will be returned to the original accounts. This could mean a big boost for NXT from which the whole community would benefit, so every donation matters, no matter how small. 4.5 million NXT is still needed to meet the 10 million NXT target. This covers the salaries of both Damelon and EvilDave for a year and the budget to actually do the tasks.

As explained on the Nxt forum, the Tennessee Project has three overall aims:

  1. A major increase in and professionalisation of NXT marketing.
  2. To improve the Nxt user experience, in terms of ease of use, support and documentation.
  3. The acquisition of leads to incorporate NXT into real world applications/businesses and to attract investors to the platform.

In order to achieve the above aims, the Tennessee project will have the following short term goals, to be realised by Q1 2016:

● Completely overhaul www.nxt.org, and streamline the web presence/SEO for all community owned sites.

● Create a continuous and coherent marketing/PR campaign, putting the focus on what NXT has achieved so far, and on highlighting real world use cases for NXT.

● As part of the above 2 points: create a complete portfolio of use cases, media packs and other publicity material, to be used in all NXT marketing.

● Set up a co-ordinated team for social networking/forums.

● Create a coherent strategy to interest potential Nxt-based projects and investors who may be interested in utilising or investing in NXT/SuperNet.

● Expand and improve on relationships with our media contacts, including establishing exploratory relationships with professional PR agencies.

● Create leads, and follow them up. This is a task we have been doing for months now, but it desperately needs to be professionalised and that takes time.

Long term goals, to be realised by Q2/3 2016:

● Assist/finance the development and deployment of simplified NRS software: i.e. Lite clients and webwallets.

● Create a comprehensive user guide for the entire NXT system, from account creation all the way to customised MS issues.

● Set up an incubator system for both potential and currently running Nxt-based projects. This will have the aim of helping out projects with both direct technical/marketing assistance, and to bring these projects into contact with investors. The incubator will take a small percentage portion of any projects that it helps, and redistribute this income to the NXT community.

● Integrate a professional PR agency into NXT promotion, and finance a campaign from them.

Further goals will be added to Tennessee as the project progresses, but this outline is a solid basis on which to build further marketing and PR.

More information on the project can be found on the Nxt forum.

You can make a donation using the official NRS Client, local, lite, or webversion:

  • Click on Monetary System + Currencies section.
  • Find TNSSE / Tennessee (search “TNSSE”).
  • Click on “Reserve” in the “Actions” column.

tnsse

  • Enter the amount of NXT you want to donate.

  • The NXT amount will be deducted from your account and held until the activation block, which is block 554,000, approximately Monday 26 October 2015, 22:00.

In my opinion, this is the missing component in the NXT platform: a strong dedicated team focused on marketing, promotion and pushing adoption.

As to where the project name came from? Who knows… maybe they came up with the name over a glass of aged Jack Daniels!

With Nxt Monetary System anyone can run a decentralized crowdfunding campaign.

Learn more about the Monetary System here:

First example of fully decentralized crowdfunding: Nxt Academy

Let’s actively bring Nxt into every university and school all over the world!

Crowdfunding usually needs three actors: the project initiator, supporters and a platform connecting both parties. Crowdfunding websites exist only for 6 years. During 2013 $5.1 billion USD was raised by millions of individuals! However the biggest disincentive to using websites such as Kickstarter is their fees. Kickstarter demands 5% of the money raised as a fee, and payment processing fees are another 5%, which in the era of blockchain technology is a little difficult to justify.

Nxt recently released a new monetary system with a crowdfunding feature, which makes a third party – a platform – fully automatic and decentralized. Since January 2015 it’s finally been possible to organize a crowdfunding campaign via the Nxt client with all costs and fees totalling less than a half USD.

The very first example of a completely decentralized Crowd funding via Nxt Monetary System started at the beginning of February 2014, when a Czech Nxter, Petr K. Salsa, issued a currency: NxtAcademy with ACDMY as a code.

500,000 NXT (= 500 units) need to be raised during February in order to successfully finish the crowd funding campaign. If 500 units aren’t bought before block 370,000 (= 1st March 2015), all pledged NXT will be returned. If at least 500 units are bought, the funds raised will be used for maintaining Nxt Academy (= at least 1000 USD/month). More funds = more projects for students, more lectures all over the world, more external teachers, more printed materials.

How to donate?

  • Click at Monetary System + Currencies section
  • Find ACDMY / NxtAcademy (search “ACDMY”)
  • Click at “Reserve” at the “Actions” column.

crowdfunding-nxt-academy

Nxt is an important part of the open source technology. Nxt Academy recognizes Nxt’s spirit and guarantees all content accessible for anyone, anywhere, for free. It is a long term project which focuses on providing free education for the students and children. Every teacher will be able to download and use teaching materials for their students. Everyone will be able to attend free online courses about Nxt from their home. Young people, as yet completely unaware even of the existence of cryptocurrency,  will be informed about Nxt via school bulletin boards and via lectures and student projects organized at their school.

The world of cryptocurrencies has got a huge enemy – ignorance. Society isn’t yet ready for the wider acceptance of the cryptocurrencies. Nxt will in time revolutionize many industries, but right now it is just a toy for geeks. Nxt Academy is going to prepare society for the Nxt crypto revolution by providing teaching materials and much more. Nxt Academy isn’t a commercial project, its existence, form and size depends on donations from the Nxt community.

Direct marketing to Students – education

Nxt Academy isn’t only a passive website with videos and texts. It actively propagates Nxt at schools, universities and student festivals. Nxt Academy will be targeting all bigger Universities and sending its materials to their students. Students will be working on team projects with their classmates, while Nxters will be mentoring them.

Teachers will be receiving teaching materials, infographics, textbooks and worksheets for children, they could even teach young kids about Nxt. It will be easy to download all sources and printed materials will be sent to the schools or handed out after the speeches / lectures at the schools and universities.

Online Marketing and Cooperation

All content created by the Nxt Academy will be actively distributed to the other similar projects – Khan Academy, Coursera, Coin Academy, College Cryptocurrency Network… It’s about spreading the knowledge, Nxt Academy will try to have its courses at all of those sites and many others.

Nxt Academy will be targeting people whose lives are as yet untouched by the cryptocurrencies at various online platforms. Nxt Academy provides press releases, news, blog posts, Twitter/Facebook/Weibo posts, forum posts, videos at multiple platforms… SEO, online marketing etc.

Nxt Academy will be supporting the crypto research

The database of the research/students papers will be very helpful for all cryptocurrency researchers. This side project will create a library with crypto-related articles saved at multiple platforms. With enough funds, Nxt Academy could provide student scholarships, grants or awards. The dream goal is to have a crypto thesis of the year contest during the Nxt Academy conference.

Online courses and textbooks

Before entering the Universities’ or Student festivals, Nxt Academy needs to prepare the teaching materials.

Online courses – Easy-to-use platform for everyone who will be able to learn about Nxt, its ecosystem, its ideas, its abilities. New fresh videos and edited videos will be followed by chosen articles and infographics.

Textbooks – If we want to get cryptocurrencies and Nxt into the mainstream, we need to prepare educational materials for teachers. Textbooks will be created by a cooperation with university professors and school teachers.

Worksheets – Children as well should have the chance to learn about the cryptocurrencies. We need to prepare the world for this new revolution. Worksheets, educational programs for children will be prepared by a cooperation with the school teachers.

Infographics – Social media campaigns need well-prepared infographics to reach the biggest audience.

Check other activities at https://nxtforum.org/nxt-academy/ or http://nxtacademy.com

Crowdfunding Progress

After two weeks Nxt Academy raised 120,000 NXT. 35 Nxters decided to support the project with their donations. It is also possible to donate directly, you can send NXT to: NXT-W4FQ-JGAE-JHS9-3PMNR (from online wallets, exchanges…).

Salsacz can devote himself full time to the project, hire an ‘in-house’ co-worker (school teacher), external university teachers and pay for outsourcing micro-jobs (translations, voice-overs, corrections) via Nxt-jobs or Fiverr. All costs are very low, because the salaries in Czech Republic (1 full time and 1 part time) are very low compared to western countries. The smallest possible budget is 500,000 NXT for a year. More money = more projects for students, external coworkers, printed materials, more speeches…

Nxt Academy is a project supervised by Petr Salsa, who has spoken about Nxt at 5 conferences and one University. A few other speeches at Economics Universities are being planned for the near future. Salsa attended all of the online courses about cryptocurrencies, such as “Introduction to Digital Currencies” by University of Nicosia, Coin Academy, Coursera, Princeton University and University of Virginia. He wants to devote his experience, skills and time to build similar courses about Nxt.

Tutorial: Nxt Asset Exchange

  • What are assets?
  • The Nxt Asset Exchange

  • Buyer Beware!
  • Buying and Selling Assets
  • Cancelling an order
  • Order Priority
  • Viewing and Transferring Assets
  • Transaction Fees
  • Finding a Good Price
  • Due Diligence

What are assets?

Nxt assets are a convenient way to represent anything fungible and tradeable. An asset token could represent a bar of silver, a pizza redemption coupon, a share in a company, even a portion of a portfolio of other assets. By representing these things digitally on the blockchain, they can be publicly verified and easily traded.

The NXT Asset Exchange (AE) is based on the concept of the ‘colored coin‘. More specifically, the Nxt Asset Exchange is based on the ability of the blockchain to recognise and therefore trace the origin of transactions involving a coin or a set of coins which have been designated (or ‘colored’) to represent any type of asset you can imagine, whether digital (for example, stocks, bonds, smart property) or tangible (for example, cars, houses, precious metals etc).

The Nxt AE

The Nxt Asset Exchange matches asset buyers and sellers, it works in a similar way to cryptocurrency exchanges. This tutorial will show you how to buy and sell asset tokens on the Asset Exchange.

All asset exchange operations can be accessed from the sidebar in the official core Nxt Client.

Browsing Assets

To view an asset, you’ll need to input the asset ID.

You can search for an asset via the search box in the top left corner in the client.

The search will open up a modal window, now click to view the asset in the Asset Exchange.

You can bookmark an asset by clicking the button in the top right corner.

Our ASSETHUB lists the most popular assets in a Top 50 with their unique ID.

Sites like https://mynxt.info/assets and https://nxtportal.org/assets list all available assets.

Buyer Beware!

A Nxt asset is uniquely identified by its ID number.

Asset names are not unique, this is to prevent names from being squatted on. So never rely on an asset’s name or description to identify it, always check that its ID number and the issuing Nxt account address match those announced by the asset’s issuer on e.g. their website/forum thread. There are scammers who issue assets with the same name as popular assets in order to try to trick people into paying for them.

We’ll use the Jinn asset, which represents profit shares from the Jinn project, as an example.

The Jinn asset’s ID can be found on Jinn Lab’s home page and on its announcement thread in the Nxtforum.

This is NOT the real Jinn:

Research any asset before buying into it, always. Check that the ID number is the correct one.

Where to get NXT coins

Buying and Selling Assets

First click the plus signs to open the buy and sell windows:

To buy an asset on the Nxt Asset Exchange, place a buy order indicating how many tokens you wish to buy, and how much Nxt you’re willing to pay for each token.

Selling assets is similar, but this is done on the right-hand side.

Check that you’re performing the correct action by reading the description on the button (Buying is converting NXT -> assets, selling is converting assets -> Nxt). Before you confirm your order, also check that you have the correct number of digits before and after the decimal point.

You can not bid for more than you can afford with the available NXT in your account. When you place a buy order, the total price of the order is automatically reserved from your account and cannot be moved or spent, unless you cancel the order. It will be deducted when the order is fulfilled.

You also can not sell more tokens than you have in your account, nor, of course, can you transfer tokens from your account whilst they are still up for sale.

Cancelling an order

You can see all your unfulfilled orders under ‘Asset Exchange -> Open Orders’. Unfulfilled orders can be cancelled at any time subject to payment of a transaction fee; once the cancellation of an order has been confirmed, the reserved NXT and the tokens that were for sale are released back to the account holder’s control.

[easy-social-share]

Order Priority

Buy orders are prioritized:

  • first by price (higher bids have greater priority);
  • followed by the block height when they’re added (bids in earlier blocks have greater priority);
  • followed by the transaction ID (bids with lower transaction IDs have greater priority).

Sell orders are prioritized similarly, but lower offers have greater priority.

Higher priority orders are fulfilled first.

Viewing and Transferring Assets

All assets in your account are listed under ‘Asset Exchange -> My Assets’.

Click on ‘Transfer’ at the right-hand side to send asset tokens to another account. Currently you can only send tokens of the same asset in a single transaction; you’ll need to make a separate transaction for each asset you want to send.

You can also “burn” (effectively destroy) assets by using the “Delete Shares” button.

Transaction Fees

Like most other transactions that add to the blockchain, it costs 1 NXT to place or cancel an order, or transfer an asset. The transaction fee is deducted from your account when the block containing the transaction has been confirmed.

Finding a Good Price

If your bid price for an asset is low, nobody may be interested in selling at that price, or it may be a long time before any higher priced buy orders are filled or cancelled and someone accepts your price. The order books and recent trades (below the buy and sell windows) can help you find a good price.

Such recent price information can help you execute a trade quickly, but the price you have paid may not reflect an asset’s true value longer term. Beware of placing too much reliance on short term price movements, otherwise you might end up panic buying or panic selling which is a sure way to lose money. You need to take into account all available information regarding an asset and its issuer in order to reach a properly considered decision about the asset’s worth.

Due Diligence

Before buying an asset, you should at least understand what an asset represents and clarify any doubts with the issuer. On NXTER.ORG’s ASSETHUB you can read in depth asset research and find a Top 50 list over the most popular assets on the AE. Many assets are discussed on the nxtform.org assets sub-board https://nxtforum.org/assets-board/ and the Nxt Projects sub-board https://nxtforum.org/nxt-projects/. Here you can talk to asset issuers and other investors.

You should check that the asset issuers are who they claim to be. So, for example, if someone advertises shares for profits from running a restaurant, you’d want at least to check that the restaurant exists, that they own the restaurant, and they know how to run it. And for profit shares, you’d also want to check that your expected dividends justify the cost of the shares.

A good question to ask yourself is: “How likely is it that the asset issuer might disappear with any Nxt gained from asset sales, rather than follow through with their promises?” For example, if the issuer is anonymous, stands to raise a lot of Nxt from initial asset sales, and/or their stated plan for the asset seems very unlikely to be favorable for them, then they have incentives to just run away with your Nxt. But if, on the other hand, the issuer has a reputation that they want to protect and build on, and they have a sound business plan that stands to make them a lot more Nxt than the initial asset sales, then they have good reasons to honor their promises. Weigh the risks against potential returns before deciding if, and how much, you want to spend on an asset.

Usually it’s more accurate to describe asset tokens as a promise to the asset holder by the issuer to, for example, exchange the token for a bar of silver, or pay dividends from company profits. The Nxt network cannot enforce these promises, it’s your responsibility to check that the issuers can make good on their promises, and it’s for you to decide whether or not to accept the risk that they may not do so.

Regardless of how much due diligence, or even active involvement with the asset, you undertake, things beyond your control can still happen. Even the most trustworthy and capable people can be hit by the proverbial bus. Remember the standard advice regarding any type of financial  investment: never invest more than you can afford to lose.

Nxt – for Entrepreneurs, Indie Artists and Companies

Nxt features tools for entrepreneurs, artists and companies to manage their ventures:

  • Crowd Funding
  • Sales and Distribution
  • Brands

Crowd Funding

Going to start a new project but haven’t yet got the required funding? Or, perhaps you have an idea for a new product but you are not sure of its prospects for success and therefore need a stronger financial buffer.

Crowd funding has never been easier. Using the simple ‘Issue an Asset’ menu, you can quickly create an asset related to your product or service which others can then purchase, thereby demonstrating their support for your project. Thus, you receive both the necessary funding for your project, valuable publicity by virtue of your asset’s listing on the integrated exchange and a sense of the likely extent of your project’s appeal.

Furthermore, you will also be able to use the Nxt platform (starting from version 1.5) to ask for your assetholders’ help to make strategic decisions by using the voting platform.

Sales and Distribution

If you already have a production-ready product or a ready for delivery service, the integrated marketplace makes it even easier to develop your customer base, for example, by offering discounts to build customer loyalty.

In order for your customers to find your products, Nxt allows you to mark them with up to three custom tags of your choice. Your customers can also leave valuable feedback for you after they have purchased something from you.

Among the first people to use the Nxt marketplace were artists selling their pictures, writers selling their articles and books and independent musicians (so-called ‘Indie Artists’) selling their songs. Besides creative industry products, domain names, vouchers, properties and much more are for sale on the marketplace right now.

Brands

Being cool and memorable are the essential attributes of brands these days and your goods and services deserve such branding as well. With Nxt you can reserve a unique branding for your products and use it for marketing purposes. In Nxt, brand names are known as ‘Aliases’.

If you do not want to use your brand name anymore, you can simply list it for sale or release it for public use.

NXT Market Report: 6 October 2014

Welcome to this week’s market report. The last seven days have been spectacular and very interesting. We’ve seen a massive decrease in the price of Bitcoin and, at the same time, the launch of a number of promising NXT projects. As usual we start the report by comparing market capitalizations. NXT has declined in price by 13.9% whereas Bitcoin has fallen by 14.6% – overall the price of NXT remains stable, which is obviously nice (NXT is probably the most stable crypto currency out there). In contrast Bitcoin’s price decline continued down to USD 290 each (source: bitcoinaverage.com). According to rumor, the market is being manipulated by the Chinese exchanges OKCoin, Huobi and BTC China. In essence, they are using trading bots to buy and sell ‘fake’ Bitcoins introduced by the exchanges themselves. This idea is especially plausible because none of the three exchanges  charge a fee for the trading itself, which makes a lot of people wonder how they can still be profitable. Read more here about Bitcoin’s price decline.

Jinn Labs launches its asset using, for  the first time ever on the NXT Asset Exchange, a dutch auction

Jinn Labs, a project founded by Come-from-Beyond, Uniqueorn and wesleyh organized the first ever dutch auction on the NXT Asset Exchange for their public offering (see ANN thread). In a dutch auction the investor places a buy order at the price he’s prepared to pay for a share. At the end of the auction, bids are filled from the highest bid price down until the desired amount has been raised. The last bid order to be filled determines the price for all other participants so that everyone pays the same amount per share. To ensure fairness, the seller does not disclose in advance when he is going to place his sell order. After the auction Jinn Labs reimbursed the investors who paid a higher bid than the final 85 NXT per share.

Jinn has already been in development for several months behind the scenes and has now gone public in order to raise capital for further investments. Jinn is expected to be fully developed Q4 2015. But what, in fact, is Jinn?

Jinn is a general purpose processor based on ternary logic with hardware support for distributed computing. This project also includes the Jiniri Limited (single-node) and Jiniri Unlimited (multi-node) emulators, in addition we are creating a monetized proof-of-concept game. (quoted from jinnlabs.com)

Jinn’s asset has great potential – the token started at the IPO price of 85 NXT per share and is now trading at around 250 NXT. The token only represents a share of the profits, which is paid as a dividend on the first day of every month. The team working on Jinn is very talented and has been consistently delivering solid work ever since NXT was launched nearly a year ago. Furthermore the Jinn project is well organized with a clear way of communication and a realistic timeline.

Launch of two rating services

During the last week two new rating services have been launched.

NXTinspect

NXTinspect was founded by whalejefdiesel and chanc3r. They are offering asset reviews, due diligence on asset issuers, research work and escrow services. The IPO was sold out within a few minutes due to two big investors who bought up all the offered shares. Luckily one of those was jl777, who distributed a good chunk of his NXTinspect as SuperNET and NXTventure dividends. The proportion in which owners of SuperNET and NXTventure received NXTinspect assets was 1:16. In total 1’000’000 NXTinspect assets have been issued of which 40% will belong to the founders and 60% will be sold as IPO shares at 1 Nxt in two batches. As already stated the first tranche is sold out.

Kongzi News Service

Kongzi News Service, issued by printshop (who already manages KPS), announced its launch 4 days after that of NXTinspect.

Details regarding the nature of the KNS service and the structure of its IPO can be found here: nxtforum, post #49.

As can, starting with the opening post of that thread, the considered opinions of KNS and NXTinspect about the other’s service.

I myself do not express any opinion about the respective merits of the two services except to say that they offer a genuine choice for consumers and that is all to the good: competition drives excellence!

What’s going on in the Asset Exchange?

FunBotV1: The asset FunBotV1 represents a full automated trading bot, which exploits arbitrage opportunities on Bter, CryptsyPoloniex and SecureAE. Additionally the bot includes a market making logic on all four exchanges. The asset issuer aims at 8-10% profit per month of which 70% is distributed among FunBotV1 asset holders. The other 30% will be distributed among the holders of the asset FunBotReve

While FunBotV1 represents 1 NXT in the bankroll used by the trading bot, FunBotReve only represents the value of the upcoming dividends. The asset issuer FunBot is already working on a FunBotV2 (see post #198). This will be represented by an asset similar to FunBotV1, which will receive 70% of the profit, the other 30% to be distributed among the holders of the FunBotReve asset, which explains why, in the 2 days following the announcement, there was a 40% increase in price.

[fundraiser] NXT Android Wallet

Crowdfunding has started and will run between June 13th to July 13th 2014 (or shorter).

[UPDATE]

On 18.06.2013 at 05:56:04 am: marcus03

Status: After just 5 days, the project is well funded and will be implemented! 🙂

Funds raised as of June 18th: 60.897 NXT + 75.000 NXT from the community fund: 135.897 NXT

I’ll keep the asset sell order open at least until the project roadmap is done – just in case someone doesn’t want to miss being part of this. 🙂

—– Objective

A fully functional, open-source Android NXT wallet for Gingerbread (Android 2.3.3–2.3.7), Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0.3-4.0.4), Jelly Bean (4.1.x, 4.2.x, 4.3.x) and KitKat (4.4.x) on ARMv7 devices with NEON support (see here for an incomplete list of supported devices).

Transaction signing done client-side with the Android app connecting to “well-known” public NRS server without sending account secrets over the network.

Function wise, Marcus03 imagines a mix between Mycelium (for Bitcoin) and wesleys excellent desktop client.

Ease-of-use vs. feature overload

The following features are planned:

* Adding/creating multiple accounts with the option to store the account secrets in an encrypted password protected wallet on the device. Wallet backup available.
* Support for Reed-Solomon address format.
* Showing balances for registered accounts in NXT.
* Showing transactions for registered accounts.
* Contact list (account numbers with names)
* Sending NXT + Support for QR codes (scan a QR address, display a QR code for an address or a receive request (address plus an amount and a description)) + NXT corporate design

The following features are NOT planned:

– Block explorer like functionality
– Aliases (showing them, registering them, etc.)
– Asset exchange support
– Voting and whatever comes up next out of the core. 😉
– No explicit tablet support (Nexus 7/8, etc.)
– No support for forging on the Android device

The following features would be nice, but it’s not clear yet if they can be implemented:

– Showing balances for registered accounts in NXT, BTC, USD and EUR. Also showing exchange rates.
– Listing in the Google Play Store as a free app (not sure about their rules yet, but this is of course vital for mainstream adoption of NXT)

Support via Nxt Asset Exchange:

marcus03:

I issued the asset “AndroidCli” (Asset Id:  12414770996347165541 Account: NXT-X5EB-VSL5-Z7DU-3GWTJ ) for project fund raising and put up sell orders at 1 NXT. If you want to fund this projects please buy as many assets as you want to fund in NXT. As long as the fund raising is running you can step back from funding by transfering the assets back to the issuer account NXT-X5EB-VSL5-Z7DU-3GWTJ. I will then send the NXT back to the sender account (done at least once a day, but you might want to pm me). The fund raising will run for a maximum of one month (June 13th to July 13th 2014), but I might decide to close it earlier if I feel the project is well funded. If I decide the project is well funded (might happen any time I see fit or after one month latest) I will no longer redeem NXT for assets transfered back to issuer account. If I decide the project is not well funded after one month, I will cancel my sell order and put up a buy order at 1 1XT so that everyone is free to sell the asset against my buy order with minimal loss (2 NXT in transaction fees).

About marcus03

marcus03 developed one of the first and most used easy to install Nxt Clients for Windows/MacOSX, the NXT Solaris desktop client. However, in April marcus03 thought that NXT Solaris was no longer needed, and he stopped developing it and handed over the code. As nxtQaunts were implemented in the NRS, and the API calls in the NRS core changed, NXT Solaris became unfunctional. Marcus03

I wrote NXT Solaris in a way to be able to use parts of the code for mobile devices and after the recent discussion about the need for an Android client, I want to offer the following project to the NXT community.

In other words: Marcus03 has proven his worth. Interested? Then let’s raise the funds and make this beauty handheld. iphone   Source thread: https://nxtforum.org/nxt-projects/project-ideaoffer-nxt-wallet-for-android/

The AE launch

jl777:

The launch of NXT AE was amazing. Due to many nodes not running the latest versions and there being a lot of asset tx, there were a few blocks that took almost 30 minutes, but still NXT AE is here with a bang!

Forging fees…

qqNxt:

LOOK AT THOSE MASSIVE FORGING FEES!!!

ae_forging

Bitcoinpaul:

Rocking to the moon!

iruu:

Holy shit, I forged a block with 5010 nxt in fees. That’s more than what forging machine is worth.
If you have nxt and don’t forge – you really should start Shocked

Buy! Buy! Sell! …

farl4bits:

I just bought my first assets! Bithaus baby!  ;D

jl777:

The bithaus asset was issued in block 135007, it also seems to be the asset that had the most trading volume.

InstantDEX started strong and continued to keep going up all the way to 30 NXT per asset. It was the second most active issue. Even though people dont know what the secret coin NXTcoinsco will have, on the strength of nodecoin expectations, NXTcoinsco was the third most active issue. If they were cryptos, InstantDEX would be around #30 and NXTcoinsco would be around #40 on coinmarketcap.

Thank you to everybody for all the support. This also proves that people will do better to create a viable NXT asset than wasting time making clones.

NXT Silver Bullion Gateway

Anon136:

Each token is a warehouse receipt for 1 troy ounce of 999 fine silver. Silver is deliverable in the form of a 5 troy ounce silver bars (this may change to 10 in the future). The minimum order size is 10 troy ounces.

In order to receive physical silver bullion in exchange for a token the bearer must send an arbitrary message containing his/her mailing address and an amount of tokens greater than or equal to ten and divisible by ten to NXT address 4357314498768237104. Both the tokens and the arbitrary message must be sent from the same NXT address.

I will not be placing any tokens for sale on the exchange myself. Well I really don’t want to get too explicit about anything because I’m trying to avoid saying anything that could get me in legal trouble. Lets just say that if you donate some silver to me than I might donate some tokens which you might be able to sell on the asset exchange for more than you payed for the silver. It might be a great way to get some nxt at bargain prices.

CRYPTO GATEWAY (name TBC)

Crypto-Gateway:

I will function as a gateway between the asset exchange and the other blockchains. People can send BTC or NAS to me and will receive tokens of BTC and NXT on the asset exchange. These tokens can be sold/sent however they want. When someone has these tokens, he can  redeem those BTC or NAS they represent through me. I will never sell/buy/trade any of those tokens myself, that is the job of the resellers or people that want to purchase NXT that way. If this is successful I will add other cryptos to the supported coins. Also I will pay someone to automate the redeeming.

I talked to TwinWinNerD and he will function as the escrow. He is willing to vouch for me.

TwinWinNerD:

If Crypto-Gateway runs-off with any funds deposited, then I will pay for those missing funds. The vouching is true. For any other damages I can’t be reliable. I will hold nearly all BTC and NAS of this service and will put them in coldstorage if the amounts get bigger.

The coldstorage and hot wallet addresses will be publicly stated here. If the amount of tokens NOT in the asset issuer account, the asset issuer has broken the deal and I will take action!

PS: You can check my flawless trustrating here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=16614

Happy trading!

Min Deposit: 1.00 BTC / 10,000,000 NAS
Min Redeeming: 0.1 BTC  / 2,500,000 NAS
Fees: 0.1% to deposit / 0.1% to redeem (lower fees for the first week, later it will be at 0.25%~)

Sianotes (pre-IPO)

Taek:

Happy to announce that we are on the Nxt AE and selling!
First, I created 10,000 sianotes, each worth 0.01% siastock, adding up to a total of 100% siastock. Sianotes are not divisible. Only 15% is sale during the pre-IPO. This increases the price to 2400 each. At the moment, 100 are available. Over the next 3 weeks, we will keep releasing batches of Sianotes until the full 1500 have been sold.

Sia is a new, highly efficient decentralized file storage network that operates using cryptocurrency-based compensation. Hosts can join Sia, offering their local storage space to consumers in return for compensation. Consumers can then rent storage from these hosts.

The network has been designed with speed, reliability, and affordability as the highest priorities. To achieve this, data is split up into hundreds of erasure coded pieces distributed across the network. The network is self-repairing, such that if any host drops offline, the missing piece will be recovered and replaced. A file will survive even if dozens of hosts drop offline at the same time. Having the file in hundreds of places enables massively parallel downloads, like a torrent with hundreds of seeders. The throughput on Sia should max out most consumer-grade connections.

3.9% of all host income will be taken as a fee and distributed among the owners of Siastock. This can be compared to MaidSafe’s 15%. By making Siastock a full secondary cryptocurrency, it can be traded just like Bitcoin. Siastock represents a permanent source of income.

Beware of scammers!

A 1000 Nxt entrance fee has been set to serve as “scam filter”.
But, obviously, some pranksters paid that fee and tried to get lucky.

Guidelines were immediately posted.

A thread was made for announcing scams:
https://nxtforum.org/scam-alert!/report-‘fake’-and-‘suspected-fake’-assets-here-(with-justification)/

And the discussion of improvements is ongoing…

jl777:

I propose that wesley add a magic checkbox to the GUI that will make it so that only the assets on Daedelus’s list appears.

People can always uncheck the box to see all the unregistered assets.
We can publish a signed list of assets on trusted websites and the webGUI can fetch it and it will update very fast. So if somebody wanted to issue an asset, all they have to do is notify Daedelus and presto it appears.
farl4bit:
I trust Daedelus, but it’s not decentralized.
bitcoinpaul:
Well, we already talked about services on top of Nxt which verify Assets and provide a list with ‘trusted’ assets. Think of rating companies for Nxt AE. They can even charge for this service, if they want (hello old financial world!). Now Nxt Dev community should just come to a consensus how this can be technically achieved (Nxt clients should somehow be able to import this data from the different rating servers).

[ANN] NXT-DAC

[UPDATE: THIS PROJECT HAS BEEN ABANDONED!

DO NOT BUY THE ASSET!]

This new feature will enable Decentralized Autonomous Corporations on NXT.  For a transaction fee, a user will be able to associate basic corporate governance structure to an issued asset.

* Polls can be related to share ownership and voting outcomes can be scaled to the ratio of ownership, similar to a board meeting.

* A basic dividend payment feature.

Officers can be elected using the Share Poll feature.

* Those officers have control over corporate accounts and can spend money and assets from those accounts while they hold office.

* Officers can also issue official corporate statements (P&Ls, etc.), as well as send official corporate messages.

The goals of this initiative are to get a useful and basic DAC functionality up and running.  Later we can add more complex features such as impeachmentliquidation/bankruptcyleasing NXT to a corporation, and ongoing integration of future features to the corporation system.  It greatly widens the scope of the asset exchange because we can build value of the shares themselves by relating them to the control of assets, both virtual and ‘real’.  It’s possible for instance to build a basic functioning investment fund using this feature.

Please post any comments below.  Show your support! Thanks!

Quote of the week

AE is changing the world.

Words of wisdom of the week

qqNxt:

REMEMBER when purchasing asset on NXT please take few minutes to confirm that you are buying from a legit issuer! You can do a quick search of the account number of the issuer in their respective websites/forum.

eg Bithaus with issuing account id  18146608053740744717 is legit.
after searching for 18146608053740744717 in nxtforum.org you can find it:
https://nxtforum.org/trading-exchanges/asset-exchange-ipos-launch-day-listings!/msg17422/#msg17422

As asset names are non-unique you may find more assets with the same name.

Example of fake assetxdfb, acc 7348746100980203353
after searching for this account number in the forum, there are people telling you that its a fake.
And if you can’t find the account id of the issuing asset anywhere, then please don’t buy it until you can confirm its real!

This one is the real one:
Nxt account used to issue the virtual shares:4902825978590794884 / account’s ALIAS: XDFB
