  • Cointelegraph – Blockshow Europe 2017

Blockshow Europe 2017, the blockchain event organized by Cointelegraph, is over.

560 attendees, 26 exhibitors, and 26 speakers joined together in Munich to make it the largest international Blockchain-related event ever organized in Europe. Among the conference speakers were experts, businesses, and practitioners of the global Blockchain industry.

The Nxt Foundation attended as exhibitors and represented Nxt and Ardor with a booth in the main exhibition space. Some members of Jelurida also showed up during the event:

Dave Pearce, board member of the Nxt Foundation, stated when the event was over:

BlockShow 2017 was excellent, the Nxt Foundation team networked a lot. And, as often happens, we ran into lots of serious business/crypto people who’ve been quietly following Nxt (and now Ardor) with interest over the last few years, so we got plenty of love in Munich.

  • Moldova ICT Summit 2017 – Blockchain Innovations in Government

Lee Gibson Grant, founder of the Drachmae project and early member of the Nxt community, gave a presentation at the 2017 Moldova ICT Summit, where he talked about DT X, a new project, which seems to build on top of his earlier blockchain experiments – a cryptocurrency that pays dividends, a bunch of partnerships, and a proposed complete blockchain infrastructure to “make it possible for non-government entities, or governments themselves, to establish and run a national, parallel, paperless monetary system, Viability of Blockchain for E-Governance and Smart Cities”.

Lee states in his presentation:

Nxt is a decentralized blockchain, which has been around since 2013. It’s been very generous to me because all the projects I’ve done with it have been very successful… We struggled with many other blockchains…

The Republic of Moldova is a landlocked country in Eastern Europe, bordered by Romania to the west and Ukraine to the north, east, and south. DT X aims to outline various use cases for individuals, private associations, regional, municipal, and central government entities to achieve acceptance or disapproval of its technology and find out whether it has a role to play in solving real world problems, or if it should remain a theoretical experiment left to be debated by economists.

  • Adel – FAQ

Adel, the upcoming blockchain incubator that will be built on top of the Nxt blockchain, has just published a comprehensive FAQ with 40 of these questions to address concerns that potential investors may have. This FAQ further explains existing information given in a set of whitepapers and projects that Adel has already shared with the community. The Adel ICO will begin on the 1st of May, 2017.

Why did Adel choose Nxt as their blockchain platform?

Adel chose Nxt because they are a better Blockchain as a Service (BaaS). For this main reason, Adel established a strategic relationship with Nxt, since they offered the best platform with a set of integrated features to achieve our goals. Our partnership with Nxt is to enable our platform for maximum success with streamlined development and the shortest time to market…

Adel Ecosystem Ltd. will utilize the Nxt blockchain for voting, accounting, and its core infrastructure. In addition, public, private, or child chains on Ardor will be utilized in projects where the benefit of this technology can be utilized

Why did Adel choose Nxt over Ethereum?

Adel chose Nxt because it was the ideal option for the needs of Adel in the use of blockchain technology. With Nxt, a lot of the features required by Adel, such asset creation (a feature used to create the ADL coin), were easily available. In addition:

– Nxt is a platform that has multiple features integrated into its core, which Adel required.
– Nxt is better for Adel because of the need for frequently repeated common transactions on the blockchain.
Adel did not need Ethereum’s customizable smart contracts for its blockchain. Ethereum is more of a platform for smart contracts that require potentially intensive development.
– Adel plans to use phased transactions is progressing efficiently and effectively in the future – one of the most valued features of the Nxt platform.
– Adel needed the ability to create assets on Nxt and utilize its asset exchange. Ethereum has freely issued tokens, but does not have a decentralized exchange at a core level.
– Adel will capitalize on Nxt’s voting to establish a community consensus on approving projects or agreeing on other important decisions.
– Adel will capitalize on Nxt’s dividends feature, built into its core for distribution of funds and project rewards.
– Adel will take advantage of Ardor, once it is deemed suitable, in order to take advantage of the marketplace feature for startup licenses and trading of the ADL currency on an Adel child chain.

  • Janus – Changes in the Distribution Model

The Janus team has announced changes in the way the distribution of the Janus asset:

  • 800 000 Janus assets that were initially planned to be sold during this quarter in the Nxt Asset Exchange have been moved to the C-Cex exchange for sale. This way, investors will have more opportunities to buy Janus straight with BTC, without having to get rid of their NXT.
  • The current distribution, ending on the 3rd of July, will be the last token distribution Janus is going to offer. Furthermore, on 3rd of July, the total supply of Janus will decrease from 97 million to 37 million.

bjorn_bb states:

We will be moving 800,000 Janus tokens of this quarterly distribution from the asset exchange to C-Cex to allow those holding NXT for Ignis conversion more options for larger buys via BTC set at 0.00003 sats. This will be the last token distribution we do, afterwards expect the total supply of Janus to decrease from 97 million to 37 million early July. This notice gives all traders time to plan accordingly in the business sites we are delivering. Currently less than 14 million Janus are in circulation…

Those who wondered you can use BTC/NXT/etc/Ardor if you are interested in getting a token discount for the 2 mil Janus required to get access to JanusXT tier… 1 JanusXT spot remains available.

  • Jelurida – Private Blockchain Evaluation Kit v1.11.5

Riker, Nxt and Ardor core developer and member of Jelurida, made a post on Nxtforum announcing the release of a new version of the software to evaluate the operation of private blockchains, which a modified version of Nxt 1.11.5. By using the “Private Blockchain Evaluation Kit”, users are able to rapidly prototype, develop, and test Nxt-based applications on a private, local testnet, without having to join the public testnet or the production blockchain.

Lior Yaffe says:

We expect this evaluation release to be useful for the following purposes:
1. Application developers who plan to eventually deploy their application to public Nxt blockchain.
2. Businesses evaluating the suitability of the Nxt platform for their own private blockchain use case.
3. Academic research and experimentation with proof of stake blockchain technology.
4. Users who want to learn how the Nxt blockchain works, without having to purchase NXT or ask for testnet coins.

Any company can use this to setup a private network, the limitation of this kit, is that the Genesis account with a well known passphrase can submit transactions. We believe that this by itself prevents the usage of this private blockchain for production and that whomever wants to use it for production will need to license a fully functional version from Jelurida.

NXT IN THE MEDIA

  • IBS Intelligence & Bitcoin Agile – Ardor Roadmap

Several online news platforms have covered the recent release of the Ardor development roadmap by Jelurida. Such is the case with Alex Hamilton, who has written an article at IBS Intelligence about it, as well as Bitcoin Agile, which has also discussed this announcement.

Both reports explain some of the functionalities that Ardor child chains will have, such as the ability for users to create their own assets and have them traded on a decentralised asset exchange. They will be able to set up their own child chain that will include pre-installed features from Nxt. Moreover, it will be possible to exchange tokens from one child chain to another. In other words, a cross-chain coin exchange.

Ardor will be designed and tested during this quarter. In the second half of 2017, we will see the launch of the Ardor mainnet. The full launch of Ardor will not mean that Nxt will lose support, because both platforms will exist and get support even once Ardor is launched.

Dave Pearce, board member of the Nxt Foundation, states:

The community is very proud of the progress that has been made since we announced the launch of the Ardor Platform… The  team of software engineers and expert coders at Jelurida are working on creating a platform that can be applied to any number of industries

  • Cold Storage – Offline Transaction Signing

Recently, there were some Nxt users who have shown some interest in offline transaction signing, which consists of operating a device that isn’t connected to the internet when using the Nxt wallet in order to achieve a higher level of security against viruses and trojans.

ScripterRon, a Nxt core developer and member of Jelurida, has shared some instructions to developers who are interested in using the Nxt API to achieve this objective:

…Take a look at https://github.com/ScripterRon/NxtCore to see how to sign a transaction. The Transaction() class creates a signed or unsigned transaction…
…I took a different approach for Ardor which might be simpler to understand. Take a look at https://github.com/ScripterRon/Nxt2API. Look at Nxt.broadcastTransaction() which takes the unsigned bytes returned by the server, signs the transaction, and then broadcasts the transaction…

Moreover, with the recent release of the NRS mobile app, it’s now easier for all Nxt users to sign the transactions while being offline.
Riker, also a Nxt core developer and member of Jelurida, commented on this when he introduced the latest NRS version:

One interesting use case for the mobile app is to use an old phone or tablet completely offline only for signing transactions. This way you never have to expose your passphrase to online computer. See https://nxtwiki.org/wiki/Offline_Transaction_Signing
…When the mobile device is offline, the device settings modal allows signing transactions and generating tokens to support cold storage functionality.

For those of you who are interested in this feature, we’d like to remind you that there is a step-by-step tutorial at the Nxt Wiki in order to achieve this.

DEVELOPMENT

  • Ardor – Child Chain Bundler Operation

Damelon, of the Nxt Foundation, has shared some details about the future ways child chains on Ardor will operate, as well as information of the bundlers that will bundle these chains with the Ardor main chain. Anyone who meets the requirements can be a bundler. The child chain issuer and the bundler don’t have to be the same person.

Damelon says:

– Block submission is paid for in Ardor on the main chain. If you want your transaction to be validated, they will need to be sent to a bundler who will then offer them to the main chain…
– Payment to the bundler is in the child chain token. Bundlers will exchange child chain tokens to Ardor. That’s where their economic incentive is…
– …But a child chain without a bundler cannot exist. It needs a bundler for transactions to get into the main chain…To start a complete child chain, you need a bundler…
– Bundlers handle two tokens. Users on a child chain will only need one.
– If the business model is correct, though, you can bet you can find a bundler who would see value in bundling it.
– Here are multiple hierarchical tokens: Top token is Ardor, then come the child chain main tokens. One each child chain, you also can have tokens specific to that child chain, like MS currencies which are tied to the specific child chain. Assets are global on the Ardor system and can be traded across chains…
Ardor does the forging, the child chains do the pooling of transactions. Bundlers pool the transaction and then submit them to a block, but in order to be included in the ledger, you will need the main chain.

ScripterRon, Nxt Core Developer, has also given us an example of the operational details of a bundler:

The child chain fees are determined by the bundlers for that chain.  For example, an IGNIS bundler could accept transactions with a fee rate of 0.01 IGNIS.  That means a transaction which costs 1 ARDR will cost 0.01 IGNIS.  So a transaction costing 40 ARDR would cost you 0.4 IGNIS and the bundler would pay 40 ARDR.  Obviously, the bundler wants to also be a forger or have some way to recover the 40 ARDR cost…

  • Nxt Kit – Software to Manage Your VPS Nodes

User EmoneyRu has announced an update to his useful application to manage Nxt nodes on VPS servers.

EmoneyRu says:

With the latest commit, I’ve migrated to ‘chain-original-conf.ZIP’. It means that from now we can use snapshots from peerexplorer.com (or, of course, we can pack the similar archive).

Usage block was updated correspondingly.

This open source software, is an easy way to deploy or update Nxt on any of your VPS or Dedicated Servers that run Linux (Redhat, Debian, Ubuntu, etc). Among its features include easy Hallmarked nodes deployment (it changes its config to make the node public), malfunction detection, and automatic client restart (when needed). Moreover, it lets you download the blockchain straight from peerexplorer.com, thus speeding up this part of the set up process of your node.

For more details about installation and usage, you can read the readme file included with the application. If you are planning to make a donation to the developers of this application, here is their Nxt account: NXT-VPP6-RFBG-WMAH-54SDX

  • Docker Image – Nxt 1.11.2

User chevdor has uploaded the latest NRS in a Docker open source container with version version 1.11.2

Docker is a tool that can package an application and its dependencies in a virtual container that can run on any Linux server. This helps enable flexibility and portability regarding where the application can run, whether on-premises, a public cloud, a private cloud, bare metal, etc.

As we mentioned in previous newsletters, running NRS in a Docker container can be even easier than running it “the normal way”. It’s especially useful when running Nxt on a VPS: No java required, no download, no specific configuration… In addition to this, in spite of being a type of “virtual machine”, it does not decrease performance.

NXT IN THE MEDIA

  • NXT Folks – The Next Step

re-issues an article previously published in 2014, a time when the author was very excited about the potential of blockchain technology and the social implications that this technology would bring with it. The article details the several issues that the Bitcoin was going to face if it was going to be used massively as a coin. The text also goes over the great features that Nxt has which solves some of the previously exposed problems which are inherent to other PoW and PoS coins.

It’s amazing to see how, after two years have passed, many of the initial objectives that Bitcoin and other blockchains were hunting at that time have been abandoned or changed towards other ones – a clear signal that this technology is still very much in its early stage and has a long way ahead.

  • Entrepreneur Podcast Network – Investing in Bitcoin and Blockchain Technology

This article explains how the cryptocoins markets are attracting attention of different kinds of speculators, some of whom are without an adequate background, who come to these markets distracted by siren calls by many testimonials who assert having won big amounts of money in short periods of time.

However, the text recalls the risks of operating in such volatile markets, where big oscillations in the price of coins usually take place. These markets aren’t backed by any government, nor are covered by government insurance programs. Besides this, in many of these coins, especially the ones with smaller market caps, tokens are staked by a small group of speculators who are able to move the price up and down at their will, usually in order to improve their profits.

The author also details some of the amazing features that Nxt, a blockchain 2.0 platform, has, that when Ardor is launched, will be available to businesses when issuing their own child chains. This way, unlike most crypto coins out there, it will become a full-featured platform and not just another coin as Nxt technology could be used for a wide variety of real life applications in business.

  • Nxt 2.0 Child chains – Not a Sharding Scheme

Last week, we mentioned that Riker, a Nxt core developer, considered Nxt, ETH, Bitcoin, etc. as examples of blockchains that can’t grow indefinitely. When Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum core developer, was asked about it by one of his followers, he stated on Reddit:

“The NXT 2.0 design last time I reviewed it still requires all nodes to either process all transactions or store all data, so it’s not a full sharding scheme.”

However, the Nxt 2.0 roadmap (a document which, obviously, Vitalik hasn’t had time to read), states that this is not about setting up a sharding scheme, but pruning unneeded data once a certain time has passed.

Riker said at Nxtforum:

In NXT 2.0 all nodes still process all transactions but only store the last 24 hours of each child chain.
However, we should have the ability to separate each child chain into it’s own subnet of nodes, so that only the Ardor chain transactions are validated by all nodes.
Recall that each child chain block becomes ChildChainBlock transaction on the Ardor chain so the potential savings is in the ratio of 1:100 or more.

I tried to learn about Ethereum sharding but only found 20 minutes of mostly hand waving presentation by Vitalik https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-QIt3mKLIYU from which I learn that the blockchain will be separated into “shards” and then magically using a lot of “Merkle contracts” and “Merkle proofs” and “Async contracts” it would somehow allow transactions between these shards, if anyone understands this better I’ll be happy to learn more and compare this to our clearly explained NXT 2.0 roadmap.

I also found a semi-deserted github repository https://github.com/ethereum/EIPs/issues/53 in which Vitalik further explains his vision. This seems to be more of a vision then a real design document.

And it doesn’t look that Ethereum made serious progress on this since the concept was introduced last year.
Did anyone see a clearly defined Ethereum 2.0 roadmap?

riker

This will require 1 NXT per created account. In return all you ever need to store is the masterkey, and you will be able to restore all data in the event of a hard disk failure.
This is currently being used on Nxtchat and the data can be seen in the NXT client under data cloud and tag “tipbotdata”.
  • Moniker support for assets & MS currencies. For example, by giving the ARDR asset monikers “Ardor” and “NXT2.0” you can use those names for tipping as well as ARDR.
  • List command. Lists all assets and MS currencies currently supported by the tip bot, as well as their monikers and a link to Nxtportal for further information.
  • Tip & withdraw using Nxt id. Added ability to tip & withdraw assets / MS currencies using their respective Nxt id in addition to their name and monikers.
  • Balance command lists all assets/currencies. Balance command now also show unsupported assets / ms currencies. That means if your Nxt account owns an asset that is not supported by the tip bot, it was previously not shown. Now it will show up, with a warning saying it is an unsupported asset.
  • Withdraw unsupported assets & currencies. Withdraw command can now be used to withdraw unsupported assets / ms currencies. However only by using their respective NXT id. For example:
    “withdraw NXT-4TTB-QL93-SS6H-BW3GX 5 12071612744977229797”
  • Bugfix. I have been hunting down a bug which caused the bot to crash on *nix systems for many weeks now and I believe I have found it and fixed it. The problem is however intermittent and does not happen in my development environment, so only time will tell if I really nailed it this time. crossing fingers

I still consider this beta software, so please only use small amounts when depositing.
In the event of funds getting lost due to a bug I will personally repay you, but only if it is reasonable small amounts.
Max 1000 NXT per account.
Thank you!

Drachmae Project Plans Blockchain-Based Travel Club, Token Crowdsale

In 2015, during the Grexit debate, the Drachmae Project was exploring various use cases over the blockchain. This year, after aneducational Proof of Concept, the project is moving forward to use blockchain technology to disrupt the travel sector.

Last year a multi-currency wallet called Drachmae Money was constructed, and SMS and NFC interfaces were added and tested alongside card payments. The lessons learned highlighted some risks, for instance that it is highly possibly to do double spending using Bitcoin.

According to the project leaders, testing on Agistri Island in Greece with a  digital currency and blockchain derived credible data on which to build services that are centered on human behavior.

Project Lead, Lee Gibson Grant, notes:

Consumers and businesses alike require this most of all: Convenience, Savings, Assurance and Community. Techno-centric thinking tends to lose sight of these benefits.

Drachmae Project is now developing its commercial solution that targets travel. The solution will use more than the NXT blockchain used in the Agistri case study. It will also be using Ethereum and permission nodes, and has been dubbed DT Chain.

To raise funds for its development, the Drachmae Project is launching its own crowdsale, where it will offer two instruments:

  • an initial coin offering of the native toke used by the network, DT Token
  • tokenized and smart contract based memberships to a private travel club that will support multiple currencies and be tradeable.

The memberships include Standard – limited to 50,000, Gold – limited to 25,000, and VIP – limited to 5,000

The DT Token total supply will be limited to 88,888,888 tokens, with 8,888,888 being released for the crowdsale. Drachmae has pledged the proceed to supporting the release of the “Travel App Game”, set to launch in June 2016 and Travel Club in September 2016. The most important development is the travel money service, which uses lockchain technology and will be connected to a branded prepaid card.

Grant adds:

The larger question to be answered is whether there is actually appetite to disrupt the Travel Sector, and why this type of project would be supported. Is it the start of an alternative loyalty and rewards mechanism to compete with Air Miles that is currently in decline.

NXT to power a full economic ecosystem

nxt-nautuluscoin-greece-cryptocurrency

Today a press release from Nautiluscoin announces the launch of a full economic ecosystem, built on the Nxt blockchain. The launch event of the Drachmae Ecosystem will take place on September 26, 2015.  Furthermore, Brian Kelly Capital (BKCM LLC) will be making a seed investment in a new entity that will deploy this ecosystem globally, first targeting developing micro-economies in Latin America and Africa.

“We are pleased to announce that we have formally joined forces with the Drachmae Project and have developed a full economic ecosystem for the island of Agistri”, Nautiluscoin writes. “This ecosystem includes a fully functional mobile banking system, a B2B ecommerce platform, and a travel-booking site, all fueled by Nautiluscoin. This ecosystem will be rolled out on the Greek island of Agistri on September 26, 2015.

We are providing the tools for the municipality and businesses of Agistri to investigate ways of generating new revenue via our blockchain-based ecosystem. Businesses will be able to save money via the B2B platform by connecting directly with suppliers, while at the same time offering discounts to travellers via the travel platform. Powered by Nautiluscoin, the ecosystem will offer efficiency and simplicity, providing tourists with a simple one-stop shop for all aspects of booking a holiday.

We are focused on the end users of the currency – the businesses, citizens and visitors – this is our community. This proof of concept will illustrate how digital currencies and blockchain technology can benefit a community. To that end, the communtity in Agistri will be actively involved in the project and will share ownership and revenue from the Drachmae Project.

The mission of the Nautiluscoin project is to use digital currency and blockchain technology to bring money into an economy. While digital currencies have been successful at providing a means to remove capital from an economy, few have successfully shown that adoption and use can drive economic growth – the Nautiluscoin project is about to change this.[sharing tagline=”” tagline_color=”” title=”” link=”http://test.nxter.org/?p=11118″ description=”” pinterest_image=”http://test.nxter.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/nxt-nautuluscoin-greece-cryptocurrency.png” icons_boxed=”” icons_boxed_radius=”4px” box_colors=”” icon_colors=”” tooltip_placement=”” backgroundcolor=”” class=”” id=””][/sharing]

Coin Swap

The Drachmae Ecosystem has been built using the NXT Platform and Nautiluscoin will soon be swapped onto the NXT monetary system. We have chosen NXT because of its superior technical capabilities, security and community support. The business orientation of the NXT community will be the foundation on which we build our ecosystem.

The NXT Foundation will be assisting with the coin swap that will commence on September 18, 2015. We will post the coin swap instructions on Bitcoin Talk on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 and the offical commencement will be announced via Nautilsucoin’s Twitter account.

The NXT Foundation will also be assisting with the structure and the operation of the Nautiluscoin community, which includes the businesses and citizens of Agistri who wish to join the project. This project would not have been possible without the expertise and support of the NXT Foundation. The NXT team and Foundation have been integral to realizing this opportunity to utilise the power of blockchain technology.

The Launch Event

The September 26, 2015 launch of the Drachmae Ecosystem will include a community barbecue where the Nautiluscoin airdrop will formally take place. Each citizen that attends will be given €100worth of Nautiluscoin to spend at the barbecue and local businesses. As well, members of the press will be given €100 worth of Nautiluscoin.

We will also be hosting a Hackathon event for developers to explore our blockchain ecosystem and create apps. We encourage anyone with an interest in blockchain technology to develop apps that can solve real world problems for the community. We will be hosting up to 40 developers to join in this first of its kind Hackathon in Greece. We are also extending an open invitation to companies and government organisations to visit and observe the event.

The launch event will be capped off with a televised fashion show featuring professional models wearing GetNauti gear. We have hired a camera crew to be on island for the launch event to capture this historic moment. This fashion show is a pre-shooting for the Athena Model TV Show that will be hosted on Agistri in 2016.

We are excited to bring this revolutionary technology to Agistri and are grateful for the foresight of the Mayor, local businesses and citizens. This will be the first time an entire economic ecosystem has been experimented and deployed and we are looking forward to this historic event.

Brian Kelly Capital Investment

The ecosystem that will be deployed is both scalable and efficient, making it suitable for multiple use cases. In parallel with the Drachmae launch on Agistri, Brian Kelly Capital (BKCM LLC) will be making a seed investment in a new entity that will deploy this ecosystem globally. The new entity will license and implement new blockchain based economic ecosystems similar to the Drachmae Project. Currently, the entity anticipates targeting developing micro-economies in Latin America and Africa.

Commenting on the investment, Brian Kelly said, “With this technology we can deploy a fully functioning economic ecosystem which includes a banking system, a commerce platform and a currency. We are excited to be a part of this revolution.”

The new entity will be focused on deploying this technology to other countries, municipalities or organizations that need a fully functioning micro-economy.”

SuperNET Newsletter #18

Welcome to the SuperNET.

This week we’ve got the usual roundup of news and developments. The tech is coming together, as James writes: ‘It is getting very close. The core, GUI and windows are really three totally independent projects, but they all need to come together to get a windows release. This is happening.’

James own role could be coming to an end as the core functionality nears completion. ‘I prefer to just make a decentralized self-organizing topology network that allows individuals to remain private and offer services without worrying about all the details cuz it just works.’

nxtcrypto-supernet

SuperNET Litewallet v2.0.5-beta

Litewallet users: update to the new version at https://forum.thesupernet.org/index.php?topic=545.0. The Litewallet offers the most user friendly SuperNET experience and includes the MGW multiwallet.

SuperNET NRS plugin

You can use SuperNET as a plugin to the Nxt NRS (the standard Nxt client, rather than the dedicated SuperNET release): https://nxtforum.org/lite-multigateway-releases/supernet-nrs-plugin-v1-0/. Extract and save the plugin component to your NRS client, and simply use SuperNET as a Nxt plugin.

SuperNET NRS 1.5.12 update

After the 1.5 hardfork, there have been a couple of updates. To gain all of Nxt’s and SuperNET’s functionality, you’ll need to download the latest SuperNET client: https://nxtforum.org/lite-multigateway-releases/supernet-v1-5-12-1/

Agents

Agents is James’ dev-friendly plugins system. It offers an easy way of creating new features. James writes, ‘I released Lchains MGW, so far not so many bugs at all, and I got the InstantDEX ported into new structure in 2 days. That includes making cgi, which I never did before. Need to debug it, won’t take long. Then we can get a GUI + core to test on unix. When Windows has SuperNET, then we can make a one click installer. My work is almost done.

‘With agents, especially supporting many languages, I just need to be advising other coders, instead of having to do it all myself. It is like completing the operating system, but there are not so many applications yet. That is why I am making reference applications like MGW, InstantDEX, etc.

‘echodemo is 50 lines of code, but it has all that is needed to make an agent. If you can parse and process JSON, that is all an agent needs to do. It is a JSON processor: JSON input -> JSON output. The agent system automagically gets the inputs from the entire SuperNET and returns the output to where it needs to go. All the networking is abstracted out of it.’

If you want to join development, join SuperNET Slack channel #agents.

Dev assets

SuperNET will be issuing SuperNET Dev assets / “carreer assets”.

The dev will own 90% of this, SuperNET 5% and 5% is dividended out.

100% of a devs earnings from SuperNET is pushed through this asset, so investors can for the first time directly invest in the future earnings of a specific dev. Also, each dev will have a high priced sell wall, so people that want to donate can just pay the above market price.

More info:
https://nxtforum.org/unity/supernet-dev-assets

James writes, ‘Last year I had this idea for artists/athletes, but they are entangled in real world contracts and agents, and therefore problematic, also making sure that they honor the dividend commitment is even more problematic and would require real world contracts.

But the basic idea is sound, ie allow a talented professional to capitalize their future revenues. This allows such a talent to avoid the “starving student” years by selling off part of their future earnings. It also allows investors for the first time (!) to invest in a specific dev, instead of the projects a dev is involved in. Granted, these assets can only assure investors that revenues from SuperNET are paid out, but since it is based on trust in a specific dev, the asset is directly related to the trustworthiness of the dev and his/her future potential’.

MGW agent

supernet-multigateway-mgw

James now uses Lchains to make deposits to MGW. Integrating Lchains makes it significantly faster: ‘Tx 14981284329551545928 is the first automated Lchain MGW deposit. I still need to get the stats reporting fully debugged, but withdraw is the next (and last) thing needed to be done for MGW to be ready for larger scale testing. Latest really really fast ramchain has regenerated 300K BTC blocks in 10 hours. Since it used to take more than 10 days, this is quite a speed boost and also enables debugging at a much faster cycle.

‘I added the ledgerchain code to the (literally) 7th iteration of the ramchain generation. It still will take some minutes to restart from scratch, but if that becomes an issue I already figured out an instant start solution.

‘I had to get the BTC MGW not only working, but fast to run and fast to start and fast to regenerate. These actually are three completely different problems and each one not so easy, but the latest solution is getting close to the “speed of light” type of barrier where I can’t see how to make it go much faster. Maybe someone smarter than me will find ways to make it go even faster… oh, it uses a lot less RAM too. When the code is really optimized, both the algorithm, resource usage and code, then it starts becoming harder and harder to improve it.’

Lchains are the evolved form of ramchains in which ramchains are used to create another layer of data, i.e. the ledger. Learn more about Ramchains here: http://test.nxter.org/?p=7826

Test it

BTCD Lchains MGW is ready for testing. The same code for BTCD MGW is used for BTC MGW. Instructions:

Install BitcoinDarkd:

git clone https://github.com/jl777/btcd; cd btcd/libjl777; make dependencies;
make onetime; make btcd; echo “{\”secret\”:\”randvals\”,\”userdir\”:\”$HOME\”}” > SuperNET.conf; ./BitcoinDarkd
then get a deposit address: ./BitcoinDarkd SuperNET ‘{“plugin”:”MGW”,”method”:”msigaddr”,”coin”:”BTCD”,”userNXT”:”NXT-KAK4-SDL7-DHGT-9W37B”,”broadcastflag”:1}’

The JSON cannot have any syntax errors and it needs to be a valid btcd address. The message cannot be encrypted.

./BitcoinDarkd SuperNET ‘{“plugin”:”relay”,”destplugin”:”MGW”,”method”:”msigaddr”,”coin”:”BTCD”,”userNXT”:”NXT-KAK4-SDL7-DHGT-9W37B”,”broadcastflag”:1}’

The above is the proper syntax to query the MGW servers via the relays.

Small fees to cover server costs

‘MGW [Nxt asset ID 10524562908394749924] has a valuation that is 10% of InstantDEX, actually a bit less due to server costs. I added a bit of withdraw fee (0.05%) and nobody complained, so maybe it can cover server costs from there’.

InstantDEX agent

instantdex-idex-supernet

InstantDEX (Nxt asset ID is looking great:

InstantDEX-SuperNET-ui-lo

James writes, ‘I predict I will reach code complete (meaning only bug fixes left to do) for my portion of InstantDEX on / – what day is today? – / – [tuesday] – / – cool. I think I am at code complete’.

‘The first version will be limited to a few thousand nodes. There are other components too; still a wider scale beta test is hopefully possible soon as the MGW servers are being configured, windows actually got past init and recv packets and the GUI is looking good. Quite a few parts to put all together and we will need as many testers as possible’.

It is still unix only, if you’re interested, join SuperNET Slack channel #testing-instantdex

‘The advantage to testing early is that you will be able to take advantage of the arbitrages that InstantDEX will find automatically for you. I still have improvements in the core I want to do, but I think I can do this as the rest is being finished. I don’t like the long time it takes to regenerate orderbooks, but from the Lchains work I have a way to realtime update NXT tx so it takes no time.

Once I use that for the NXT AE orderflow, then it should be able to create orderbooks in less than 1 second. That and making a dynamic topology for efficient native InstantDEX orderbook propagation. I hope to get both things working this weekend, just might be a long weekend, but when it is done, then we will be able to handle thousands of active InstantDEX traders.’

Cryptosleuth, working on the GUI, writes, ‘I am trying to make it so mostly everything can be customized. The charts on the right you can switch between candlestick/line/areaspline atm, and I am thinking of some other things you can put in there, like combining two to make a mini orderbook/place order window to trade multiple markets easy. I haven’t spent much time on extra things that aren’t needed at GUI’s core.’

You can get a feeling for the iDEX experience in this video: https://vid.me/LVza

PrivateBET agents

Btcddev will be writing a set of C-based agents. The decentralized relays will act as a clearinghouse of all available bets, results, etc. By using the agents method, the problem is divided into several pieces, each becoming a single purpose agent.

Data feed

‘We have the data feed agents, which are there to get (for example) the sports results published to SuperNET – they don’t have to deal with exactly who needs to get it, etc, as SuperNET handles all that. Just get the data and publish.’

Privatebet

‘Now, SuperNET has this data about the sports events and any client with the Privatebet client agent will be able to browse and subscribe, but most importantly the end user will be able to post privatebets, and all the other privatebet clients will be able to find all the available privatebets. Then, similar to InstantDEX direct peer-to-peer process, they will verify terms, lock funds, and then when the event is completed release payment to the winner.’

Cashier Agent

‘There will be a generic cashier agent available to all the other SuperNET agents, so the process of payments is abstracted. At first it will need to be for the same currency in matched amounts, but later I will allow matching X amount of this currency for Y amount of that currency. Of course if the market moves, the value changes, but this is part of the fun.

‘The handling of monies can of course be monetized using the golden rule. Just a percentage of bets to be kept, and the privatebet itself is not needing a bankroll.

‘When the privacy agents become available, betting will be private. In the meantime if you are in USSA please don’t use this, as it is most likely not allowed. Unless you are in Las Vegas, or one of the 14,000 Indian casinos…

‘Since there isn’t a lot of liquidity on the sell side, I can offer bulk amounts direct in BTC or NXT, 1% discount from market price per BTC to a max discount of 20%, but only for a limited time and total amount. PrivateBET [asset ID 17083334802666450484] is majority owned by NXTprivacy [ID 17911762572811467637], which SuperNET has 25% stake in.’

Crypto777

Dividend

James has donated a significant proportion of his new Crypto777 asset (id:     13476425053110940554) to SuperNET. 7.5% / 7.5% / 5% has been donated to SuperNET / NXTventure / JLH, and 24%+ has been sent into the SuperHODL account.

James writes, ‘Yes, I did just put in nearly half of crypto777. It is now the fourth core asset and I didn’t want there to be any resistance for its usage within SuperNET. What is good for crypto777 is good for SuperNET. The crypto777 donated to SuperNET has added  around 30 NXT to UNITY’s NAV’.

Crypto777 is a pipeline asset, and the dividend won’t be made for some time. ‘Current AE orderbook sells need to be cleared and the tech needs to be in beta release or very close’, James writes.

How is crypto777 going to be monetized?

‘There are several ways it can be monetized. It is not officially out yet, I just had a bit of spare time so wanted to get it all in place. It will take some time to get ramped up for the selling of services. It is not a short term thing.

‘The backed and pegged system aims to make a blockchain-enforced mechanism to allow people to get interest on their crypto holdings and there will also be a bid/ask spread built into the blockchain, so these are two sources of monetization.

‘Additionally my idea for providing crypto consulting services to fiat companies, especially with tech like Lchain, well just a few big contracts and it will be making for quite a large cashflow. With the agents system that I will extend to have crypto777 primitives, customizing private blockchain (or even nochain) will be much more efficient than making something from scratch.’

Crypto777 aims to ‘be the tech that solves the final unsolved things about crypto’:

  • Blockchain bloat
  • Price volatility
  • Inconsistent blocktimes
  • Too easy to get hacked

‘With the new SuperNET agents system, I am seeing how many parts can be done in a nice and simple way and reducing the scope of the remaining issues, but this is not an easy problem to solve, as a fully decentralized fiat peg is kind of hard to do. Consensus Research (andruiman and kushti, https://nxtforum.org/consensus-research/) is helping from the theoretical and math side and will even be doing a white paper, which everybody seems to like so much.

Job offer to technical sales creature

‘I am seeing literally dozens of companies getting millions of dollars, and the tech they are needing doesn’t seem to be very much advanced. So, I think with the crypto777 agents system, it would be possible to create customized solutions for corporates, especially the ones with tons of VC money and not enough devs.

‘I need somebody to take the lead for developing this service. We can offer fixed price contracts (for projects with very high confidence levels) so there won’t be any budget risk.

I think contracts in the $50,000 to $100,000 range are possible. Such contracts at first would need to be done by myself, so clearly can’t get this sold in the near term – then again, maybe if we had budgets like that, we can hire coders to work under my guidance. Net profits would be going out as dividends. So if you have experience with technical sales to corporates, contact me.

‘I think some sort of bounty for business brought in and/or percentage of deal flow makes this worth the while for someone who already has the contacts. And if you have experience managing dozens of coders doing half a dozen projects, then this could ramp up into a nice amount of business.’

1%-20% discount on core assets

James writes, ‘I can offer a discount of 1% off of marketprice per BTC, up to a max of 20% off. I accept BTC, NXT, maybe even other things’.

‘Short term I think NXTcoinsco/Tradebots will be pretty good, medium term NXTprivacy or Privatebet, and longer term crypto777. Maybe allocating among these would be a good balance of risk/reward. I can make a single bundle for you at the standard discount.

‘Tradebots/NXTcoinsco gets 30% the revenues that InstantDEX asset holders get, so from a valuation standpoint it is worth at least 30% of InstantDEX. Additionally it will get monetization from the tradebots leasing that it facilitates, it might even do some trading itself. Other than NXTprivacy I think it is one of the most undervalued. But NXTprivacy is further out, so it is longer term hodl.’

analytics, statistics and signaling (see landing page).

‘This API expansion has, besides clarity and completeness, another big advantage. Wrapped into an additional client module, it can be used as a tool to teach trading and explain strategies. There are thousands of sites offering online courses/classes, so a good affiliate program is a win/win for all and helps to spread FinHIVE awareness. Just a handful of affiliations would be sufficient because they are multiplicators. And a trader who used these tools could convert into a loyal customer over time. Moreover, since this module contains not only the definitions/visualization (like a TA encyclopedia) but also the current and historic performance (each symbol get its own data profile, containing the performance for all known indicators) compiled from profiles, it goes much further than all other tools at the market. This is just an additional revenue stream by recycling stuff, from other stuff we need anyway, so it makes sense.’

‘Added a visual overview for pattern detectors/triggers:

2. chart formations >> http://docs.finhive.com/frm_formations.html

Now I’m wrapping all this stuff, including the new descriptions and previous components, into the final API, starting the performance-statistics and signaling for all TA components on each symbols.’

‘A clever mind will recognize quickly how to utilize, dense and pipe all this stuff here into something meaningful, to shift probabilities into desired direction. The reference client later will make things much easier then. Now it’s only useful for some devs.

‘Besides visualization it will also contain a complete TA encyclopedia and all stats and tools to build trading systems by simple booleans, including backtesting. And some other useful stuff of course. I guess latest when SkyTrade and SkyBot appears, we will gain a decent level of attention.’

James: ‘I don’t think many people realize how powerful InstantDEX+SkyNET will be.’

Pangea Poker

Decentralized Poker
Nxt asset ID: 6883271355794806507

Valarmg writes, ‘The first 90% of software development takes 90% of the time. The last 10% takes the other 90% of the time, according to the main dev. So it feels like we are close to the first playmoney release, but there are lots of small parts to finish off.

‘The only good news about these delays is that the structure of SuperNET has changed into a much more modular architecture in the last few months, so it’s a much better time to try and integrate a project than earlier in the year.’

Freemarket

Decentralized Marketplace
Nxt asset ID: 134138275353332190

A new FreeMarket version 1.4 now available.

Knuckle writes: ‘This is our best version yet. There are a couple of new features to make FreeMarket easier to use:  New, separate views for sellers (View Your Active Items, View Your Sold Items, View Your Expired Items, and View Your Pending Sales). We have revamped the Relist feature so that it will only relist the quantity of an expired item that didn’t sell; for example, if you listed 10 of an item, sold 3, and then the item expired with 7 unsold, Relist will put 7 of the item up for sale again.’ Trade at http://nxtfreemarket.com.

SuperNET Core Coins

Bitstar

http://bitstarcoin.com

Bitstar will promote and utilise SuperNET on ATMs.

t3cltd writes, ‘Connecting the ATMs to InstantDEX is the ultimate goal. We are waiting on a number of things, not least of which for InstantDEX to be fully tested and operational in order to then be able to set the ATM real-time trade orders to automatically be handled by InstantDEX. I’m hoping to not have to set them on a centralised exchange process at all.

We’re in one of those situations that could see it all happen in double-quick time once we reach a certain point, or it could remain bogged down in inching forward as elements are put in place. InstantDEX is a critical part of everything both SuperNET is doing and the ATM side of things. It is critical that it be given the attention it needs to test fully and prove itself as the first decentralised trading platform in the industry.

Any revenue that SuperNET earns from the ATMs will come from the transaction fee generated through InstantDEX.

BTCD

http://bitcoindark.pw

Get paid for staking

BitcoinDark has started a new feature in recent weeks: dividend payments to stakers. This was always a plan for BTCD, with stakers receiving a proportion of revenues from InstantDEX and SuperNET, as well as through inflationary ‘rewards’ (5% each: the 5:5:5 scheme).

Now, the MMBTCD asset (a market-making and mutual fund built on Nxt, that pays out in superBTCD) is paying 10% of weekly revenues directly to stakers. Each week, a call integrated into the core of BTCD creates a list of all recent stakers, then pays them a proportion of the total dividend, depending on how many blocks they staked. Unlike paying stakers in proportion to their stakeweight, this rewards clients who stake 24/7, maintaining the strength of the network. BTCD is the first gen1 currency to include such a feature.

A script written by Btcddev enables anyone to make use of the functionality. Once it has been tested, it will be integrated into the new BTCD client, and ‘that way, BTCD can really be attractive as an asset. Anyone can easily pay divs using btcd’s network for his service.’

‘Anyone who wants to use btcd for a revenue generating service might consider paying dividends to stakers. They keep the network going, and the value of the BTCD (and therefore the service itself) will rise. A case in point is InstantDEX’, writes Btcddev.

Btcddev continues, ‘The getstakers command outputs number of blocks staked, not how much you staked. So if you stake constantly and find 10 blocks in a week, you will receive 10x the payment than if you turned it on for an hour and staked 1 block, even though you staked the same number of BTCD’.

Note that mgwBTCD/superBTCD does not stake. Read more at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=762346.new;topicseen#new

Initial dividends

MMBTCD: market-making and mutual fund
http://bitcoindark.pw/mmbtcd-btcd-market-making-and-mutual-fund/

Two dividends have already been paid out from MMBTCD, with more on the way weekly.
See http://bitcoindark.pw/bitcoindark-pays-first-dividend-to-stakers/

For upcoming dividends, as well as the 10% revenues from MMBTCD, James is donating 100 BTCD (this week only), mivond is donating 10% of revenues from  bitcoindarkdice.net.

‘Think about this. Once InstantDEX and other major services begin generating money, a large percentage of the new money supply will be bought as BTCD and paid to stakers, reducing inflation. It would be nice if BTCD bought reached greater than or equal to number of coins staked.’

PayExpo2015

Nxt enjoyed a solid presence at the conference.

Bas Wisselink (Nxt Foundation) writes, ‘Nxt was one of two booths for crypto, the other being GetCredits. We got some pretty high level attention, for which we are now going to do follow ups. We’ve talked to a lot of people from both the banking and payment industries. They don’t actually hate Bitcoin or crypto, but Bitcoin is definitely not being considered as much as you’d expect’.

‘They have seen the potential of the new technologies. They see more opportunities in newer tech that is built with new ideas, but taking the innovations of bitcoin, and they already know Bitcoin will be obsolete quite soon. And why would one go with obsolete technology?’

‘Uses that people are looking for are primarily secure and auditable ledgers and tokenisation. For the “developed” world, the currency angle doesn’t really strike a chord, but for the “developing” world, the currency side is potentially HUGE. We got a few people wanting to work on that. One of the lessons here is to look for solutions that actually solve a problem for a large demographic’.

NXT ATM in Vienna

Coinimal writes, ‘We have established the world’s first NXT ATM’.

‘The ATM is placed in the ‘Gretel’ café in Vienna’s most popular shopping street, Mariahilfer Strasse. The purchase process takes only a few seconds and after insertion of the desired cash amount into the machine, it automatically sends the equivalent in Bitcoin or NXT to the desired address. The beauty of this ATM is, that we were able to jointly expand the General bytes software so that this machine has the opportunity to issue NXT’.

Drachmae

http://www.drachmae.org

SuperNET is platinum sponsor for the Drachmae project.

Drachmae writes, ‘Drachmae is a hybrid banking system built over NXT using NXT core functions like AE, MS and Voting. It’s otherwise called a “Central Bank in a box” over the blockchain.’

See further at www.drachmaeconnect.com and www.drachmae.exchange

‘Everything started to be built on the 5th of May and was presented and demo working on the 20th of May. With all the media that is looming around it I need to close it in Greece with government or private association. We already have one assocation interested in taking drachmaeconnect as a business barter network.’ The project has potentially huge significance. ‘It’s not just about Greece. Greece is the test dummy of what will happen to Italy, Spain, Portugal… I am arguing with the EU Commission over drachmae as they don’t like the idea – this could be a solution.

There has been lots of great publicity about this:

Damelon writes, ‘This project, even when not viable, has generated more high level attention than 4 months of articles on things like CoinTelegraph. It gets people talking and that for me is its most important function.’

BTCOR

https://www.btcor.co

BTCOR Group Investment supports SuperNET in alignment with a profit-for-change paradigm, and it’s the first NXT asset to utilize Nxt’s revolutionary Monetary System technology and Asset Exchange to generate dividends on stored wealth. BTCOR and its SERIES VENTURE wealth storage facilities allow for holding/storing value in the form of ASSETS, GOLD, SILVER, BITCOIN and the US DOLLAR.

BTCOR is the parent asset and is the simplest choice for investment. Funds received through sales of the BTCOR asset will be used to appreciate value for shareholders by investing primarily in SuperNET’s technology, core coins, and assets and by seizing any other opportunities the Executive Board may deem advantageous.  Any dividends received by assets held in the BTCOR Treasury will be redistributed proportionately to BTCOR shareholders on a monthly basis.

Last week BTCOR announced the members of its diversely talented and respected team https://www.btcor.co/btcor-team/ alongside its business plan https://www.btcor.co/btcor-group-investment/, which details the asset’s complex structure and core principles. You can join SuperNET Slack channel #btcor for more information.
