Nxter News – July 2018 (I): Strength Lies In Differences, Not In Similarities

July (I)

Welcome, dear Nxters and other followers!

A nice inspiring thing to realize is that everyone is different and that is a good thing. Our community is made stronger by the great diversity it contains – we have many active Nxters in the US, Europe, China, Korea, Russia, and many other places the world over. A unique result of this diversity is that Nxter needs to reach many people across a vast array of mindsets and cultures, which is a challenge for us, but we embrace it. Diversity yields strength; do not always surround yourself with the same people, the same routines, the same work day after day or you will “wither” like a flower, in more ways than one. Embrace differences between people, in cultures, even in blockchains.

For the platforms we cover, last week was (as usual) eventful – we can challenge you to follow in the footsteps of MrV777 – set up a solar-powered Raspberry Pi Ardor node, a new Binance Proof-of-Concept was released by Patoshi, the Triffic ICO has begun, Dominium was reviewed, there’s a new puzzle for you puzzle geeks or bounty hunters, a new potential Ardor clone, and much more.

Thank you for embracing us as we take you on a journey through the busy week that was.

  • Nxter’s Puzzle – SOLVED – plus a new One!

Last week Nxter created a crossword puzzle whose solution was the secret passphrase of an Ardor account with 100 IGNIS and 50 NXT tokens on the Nxt blockchain. Congratulations to the winner who solved the crossword and emptied the account!

This week: Korean mood

Madfox ‘The Puzzler’ writes:

Good morning! This weeks puzzle’s ready! This is true Korean mood.

  • EZYcount Update

EZYcount has issued their Ignis asset. If you are interested in buying this asset from the Ardor Asset DEX, then bookmark Asset ID 14004020396567362190, the issuing account is ARDOR-W3PP-PSMZ-A2DE-2VKQ9. 20 million of these “EZYTaal” assets have been issued, with no sell orders yet.

As ALWAYS when you deal with decentralized trading, make sure you know what you do. As opposed to many centralized exchanges the Nxt and Ignis Asset Exchanges have never been hacked, the DEX has worked solidly since 2014. This does NOT mean, however, that there have not been scam attempts and victims of scams on the Asset Exchange – no surprise. Read our tutorial on how to trade on the Asset Exchange, and learn how to avoid falling for scams or end up buying the wrong asset.

Hello, Jns Community, this post serves as an update of the different phases initially delineated to start JNSHash mining.

1. Building owner stated May 1st we could move in and begin setup. This is based on his construction team finishing the framing and drywall of the facility and installation of the first 400 amps electric.
Status : DONE. INITIAL DATE WAS POSTPONED 1.5 MONTH

2. Once that is ready we can begin getting the building filled with all the equipment. It requires several people to get this setup and we have all the parts but need to create a new rack system that will take some time even after may 1st. (need to hang drop outlets, set up the network, cards, rigs, etc…)
Status: IN PROGRESS…

3. Then a major change to the system and payouts is required via an exchange system. Hashpower exchange versus our methods from last year announced.
We have a developer working on that now and if everything goes as planned then the exchange for hashpower and the mining rigs should coincide when ready.
Status: BEING DEVELOPED

More on this plus revised documents will be released.

  • Ardor Charity Development Opportunity

This article describes the process of CryptoMed wanting to create a blockchain that supports charity development. How Ardor was chosen and the aims of the project. A very interesting and inspiring must-read for all with a heart! No BS!

The author wrote:

Why Ardor?

Because Ardor’s representatives reached out to me (on an unrelated matter) to educate me about their blockchain technology. I noted that, for such a well-composed and formulated project, it seemed like they were relatively obscure in comparison to other projects in the space.

I was going to leave the conversation at that and just continue on living my life. But then I thought…ARDOR gives me the opportunity to build a blockchain, not just a token. Which is what I need for what I’m doing.

Also, the innovation of child and parent chains is what allows for this to be more feasibly implemented with transparency, which is key.

CLONES

  • Cyronium, a new Ardor Clone?

Is it a clone of Ardor? Is it a Nxt clone? The white paper does not distinguish very well between Nxt and Ardor, which sets off red flags because they are two different platforms. Indonesian based Cyronium wants to be a gold-backed blockchain token with three child chains. Elizabeth, the director of the ANG, tried reaching out.

Elizabeth:

What do we know about this? http://www.digitaljournal.com/pr/3830389
It seems to be a clone… I will try to make contact.

madfox:

https://www.cyronium.com/documents/whitepaper-en.pdf

It seems they do not distinguish between NXT and Ardor.

See their FAQ

They wrote, in their Press Release:

A crypto asset backed by real gold reserves, combining the disruptive potential of cryptocurrencies with the lasting value of precious metals. This cryptocurrency, Cyronium will open its initial coin offering (ICO) for institutional and private investors on July 27th 2018.

Cyronium’s founder, Mardigu Wowiek Prasantyo, seems to be some celebrity in Indonesia. A serial entrepreneur, a former hypnotherapist with a specialty in terrorism, writer, business adviser, founding father of Rumah Yatin – an org running 90 orphanages, a bossman, and self-proclaimed trillionaire with various companies in the field of oil and gas, he seems well connected and a visionary brand. With Cyronium, Mardigu WP aims to end poverty in undeveloped countries.

Reading (and understanding) the Cyronium white paper and FAQ is not easy, as they seem to have been translated into English by machines. What I get is that they plan to clone Nxt and use it to build their own “Ardor”-like platform. Sometimes they talk about sidechains, other times Child Chains. However, the token they sell in their ICO is an asset token issued on the Ardor platform (as a placeholder token I assume), and it will trade on one exchange only, namely santara.co.id.

Their “child chains” will be Tree, Volko, and Koinako.

Each of them will have backed up physical assets from real businesses. For Tree coin, the physical asset is the specific crops planted within the business ecosystem managed by Cyronium. For Volko, the assets is the business owned by Small- Medium Enterprises, managed by the Cyronium team. For Koinako, it is rented accommodation. The profit of physical asset raised by the particular coin will be distributed to the investors, based on the number of coins that they have.

It does sound like a permissioned Ardor child chain setup with three controlled profit-sharing assets issued by Cyronium would do the trick if you ask me. That way they do not have to airdrop 10% gold-backed tokens, they would get expert support and free security updates from Jelurida’s core development team and they would not have to bootstrap their own clone, be it of Nxt or Ardor (Ardor would be overkill, IMHO). We will follow this and look forward to the clarity Elizabeth’s research brings to the table.

  • Apollo (APL) Update

The community does not seem to be sold on the validity of Apollo, a coin based on NXT. Last week a Jelurida core dev looked into the source code and he was not impressed. The head Nxter editor stumbled onto the following video that tries to hype the Apollo project at the expense of Ardor. The video creator does not come off as being credible or unbiased. Much misinformation out there.

Apenzl wrote:

So, according to this YouTuber, “Victor of Apollo is a branding expert”. That’s great. But for some reason he keeps dissing Ardor, saying it’s just a simple update of Nxt (???), nothing special, a bad idea, and importantly: very bad marketed. Watching the CMC charts of Ardor and Nxt, he then concludes that he is quite sure “Apollo can achieve what the other project [Ardor] was trying to”…. I get the impression that either he has NO idea about what the Ardor platform is – or he is deliberately trolling it to better shill APL.

It looks like his idea is to push Apollo as an equal competitor to Ardor by ignoring what Ardor is but using the fact that Ardor was built from Nxt – which Apollo cloned. Funny. And wow. Why not focus on the privacy features they want to implement in Nxt? The “ligthning fast” Hermes protocol they want to make?

“Oh, but don’t listen to me; it’s your choice – buy the APL coin and you will be rich very soon – or miss out”, it goes on. Maybe he is right, Apollo will show better shilling skills than Jelurida with their nummerous gold-lettered pre-announcements of future partnerships on social media, and a merchandise store as the first milestone on their roadmap. It’s just that this is blockchain business, and until you get your code straight, it’s very serious business! Because it’s about real people, real money and lives, not just doing what it takes to sell a cool app in the appstore. I sincerely hope the Apollo team is fully aware of that.

The video is from a 3rd party videoblogger, for official Apollo info, please visit:

APL coin was airdropped to NXT holders (snapshot taken on January 14th) and may turn out to be the next grand evolution of blockchain privacy and compression – or not. • MrV at Medium – Solar Powered Ardor Blockchain Node

The developer, MrV777, published a great article, where he assembles and programs a Raspberry Pi, details how to install an Ardor node and begin forging – on a machine powered by the nuclear fusion energy of the Sun. All the hardware specs and instructions included. Talk about cool and green.

Introduction

For years I’ve been hearing about the solar powered NXT node and have been meaning to build my own for Ardor. So I finally got around to it and wanted to share my experience.

The build:

Parts

  • Raspberry Pi B
  • Solar panels
  • Battery
  • USB cable
  • Display
  • Case
  • SD card

For our use it is better to get the Raspberry Pi3 B instead of the B+. We don’t need the extra bandwidth of 5.8ghz wireless or the extra CPU speed. Also, it’s cheaper and more energy efficient.
So for my setup, these are the parts I went with:

Power usage and solar panels

So here are the solar panels and batteries that I ended up trying through this project:

  • Lior Yaffe at Medium – Crypto Investment Strategy

Lior wrote frankly about the state of NXT regarding the IGNIS Airdrop, if you invested at the peak you have since lost 93% of your value! The key to crypto, in his opinion, is to HODL! Unless your job is being a day trader on the NYSE, do not delude yourself into thinking that you can make longterm profits on trading crypto. Lior knows this well and offers words of advice and caution to potential investors.

Lior wrote:

In a previous article I published more than 4 months ago, I explained why I think the crypto market won’t suffer from a tulip mania, dot.com or housing type crash where many investments suffered losses of 97% or more over a very short period of time.

For some investments, I was wrong. For example, folks who bought NXT during the markets peak in December lost around 93% on their investment even when factoring in the IGNIS airdrop they received. But if you look at the overall crypto market the total market cap is somewhat lower than in February, but not significantly.

Even with regards to NXT itself, people who bought NXT during 2016 and held, still made a profit and also received Ardor and some Ignis for free.

  • Techworm – Jelurida Has The Experience to Change Smart Contracts Forever

This article describes the flexibility and scalability of Ardor – mentioning how Jelurida improved upon Smart Contracts with the upcoming implementation of Lightweight Contracts, enabling an even smoother, more automated process to writing and deploying conditioned contracts on the Ardor blockchain.

The author wrote:

….

Another interesting innovation Jelurida has been exploring is the Oracle Contract. Another contract type that is only run by select, applicable nodes, Oracle contracts allow external information to be collected by an outside source and registered on the blockchain. In other words, data that is not built into the blockchain can interact with or even produce data that is on the blockchain.

Oracle contracts have existed for a few years, but with the birth of Lightweight contracts and the node-based execution properties of Ardor, Jelurida is giving Oracles an ideal platform to easily communicate from external resources and record those communications on the blockchain.

In short, Ardor’s already flexible and scalable functionality has been improved upon even more by the implementation of lightweight contracts, enabling an even smoother, more automated, and in their own words, “elegant” means of blockchain application building.

Nxter News – June 2018 (IV): The Caterpillar Does All The Work, But The Butterfly Gets All The Publicity

June (IV)

Welcome, dear Nxters and other followers!

Change is important, it provides for compelling character arcs in narratives and powers evolution. Like our title suggests, caterpillars might do all the work, but butterflies get all the credit. Sucks, but it is true. One should not be content being a complacent caterpillar when you can instead be a beautiful butterfly with only a little more effort. Ardor and Nxt suffer from publicity problems – namely a lack of it. This is something that the community can help with. Take heart, one person need not do everything, but tens of thousands of you can do tiny, tiny, small things that cumulatively have a bigger effect! Read on for our impassioned call to action for you to embark upon.

  • Jelurida

Last week Lior revealed that after the Lightweight Contracts feature is solidified and operational on the Ardor testnet developer-oriented materials and workshops will be planned and implemented. If you consumed last week’s Nxter newsly, you know that Veronica has already delegated the writing. Also, Jelurida contracts with a PR firm – is their centralized work enough?

Marketing Company

Around a year ago Jelurida contracted with a PR firm for the IGNIS ICO. It is not well known that Jelurida currently uses the services of another PR firm. It always seems as if the online marketing of Jelurida is not quite as visible as it could, but this perhaps is unavoidable when trying to raise awareness across the planet in a more and more crowded sea!

mrv777 asked:

Does jelurida still have a marketing company? I know there was one around the launch, but can’t remember if they are still being used

Lior Yaffe responded:

We are working with PR firm https://marketacross.com/
But frankly I don’t see how the articles they are able to push are making much difference. I think even my medium articles get more exposure.

I’m thinking about packaging the lightweight contracts articles into a quasi-academic, Vitalik style, whitepaper.

Also, Lior gave a shout-out to Nxter:

NXTER is doing a great job. I think we are the only coin with its own magazine which works consistently for several years. Some of my Korean contacts pointed this out as an important strength of our marketing.

Training Materials and Workshops for Developers

Coming off a successful trip to America where he presented materials for developers, Lior wants to prioritize the development and planning of developer-oriented workshops and training materials in order to encourage continued and sustained growth of the Ardor ecosystem. He wrote:

Once we get the lightweight contracts feature solidified and working at least on testnet we will focus on training materials and workshops for developers. I just came back from SFO where I held such an event for developers which was quite successful and we will base some of our training materials on the outcome of this event.

This is exactly something we need. Even though Ardor and its child chain API’s are well documented in the nxtwiki and partly on Jelurida’s website, new developers and users find it confusing that to begin working with Ardor, they must look into Nxt – which is understandable.

We gathered most current Nxt and Ardor dev tutorials and resources here but do look forward to updated training material and workshops.

  • Let’s Push Reddit

Reddit is probably the most popular news aggregator on the planet, and yet there is a severely lacking Nxt and Ardor presence in the crypto subs. This should change, no this NEEDS to change. One thing we have in spades in our community is passion, but we need people to lead and demonstrate their passion on Reddit subs.

thomasveil:

I feel like a broken record… But why is our reddit game so bad? We complain about missing coverage in outlets, but reddit is much more read than any news page. Heck, most pages get their news content from reddit. It’s free to access for us – so no barrier except for upvotes.
We shouldn’t “brigade”, but right now we’re non-existent in the general crypto subs.

  • Just Sitting on Your Bags will not be Enough

Change is needed, dear readers. It is not enough to complain or become complacent, our community continues to grow but we need to fuel it. Last week we polled our readers about how many claps we would get on our Medium version of the weekly newsletter. Here’s what you voted for – and how it went:

Sad to say, 44% of 83 voters landed their bet way off, and the 14% minority was correct. As the Twitter vote came to an end, our post on Medium had reached 118 views and 764 claps. Nxters, this means that we have very optimistic Twitter followers who are also optimistic about the presence and outreach of Nxter, ANG, Jelurida, and the Nxt, Ignis and Ardor blockchains, projects, and businesses online.

But too optimistic.

What I am getting at is that you can not just wait for your ARDR / NXT / IGNIS tokens to increase in value, or even expect other blockchain enthusiasts to know that Nxt and Ardor exist, only because you own some and Jelurida raised money in their IGNIS ICO. It may sound crazy, but it is how it is.  The worst thing about this is, IMHO – you know it. It is not Nxter’s fault that Jelurida continues to be plagued by sub-optimal coverage across various forms of media – that is Jelurida’s issue. No, the point is that we all need to change – many are complacent with where things are but complain that things should be better – YES THEY SHOULD – but YOU (yes you!) can help!

You need to step up. This is decentralized tech, and we need decentralized promotion, we are dealing with “best tech baddest pump” software, and yeah, you can sit back and think: in time the truth will be known, but the momentary truth is, that the best tech does not always win. It needs to be pushed. And what better time to push Nxt and Ardor? You know what will happen. It will grow. Maybe you sit on some bags, buy some more at these low levels. Hope for them to stay this low until you get your next monthly paycheck. Or you focus on Ethereum pump’n’dump ICO tokens, all those stupid whitepaper ICO’s with no real tech, trust or proven devs behind their projects.

Newcomers come, newcomers see – what should they learn about next?

We ask for your help. If you want this “best tech” to get approved and worked on by third-party devs, applications or airdropped clones, you want new assets released, ICO’s, new Ardor child chains, and IGNIS to be acknowledged as the best blockchain 3.0 use case for Ardor, then get off your ass. Join the ride.

Here is an easy way to help, make this list your daily checklist:
– Share our news. On any social media platform, to journalists, friends.
– Check Reddit. Write. You can answer and you can ask questions, you can mention us.
– Share your efforts with us. Tell us what you heard, we’ll share it too, do better than that, write a scoop, create a project on the blockchain, blog about it on Nxter, and we’ll send you a tip and do ours to help.

CoinDesk has just shown us how much we can depend on “crypto” media outlets to spread the word about the most advanced blockchain tech in existence. TBH, it is disgusting. Nxt has been around since 2013, has run flawlessly, been cloned and been taken advantage of, it’s not like Ethereum is not trying to copy it, or that Ardor isn’t running in production as the first 100% PoS scalable child chain platform in the world, with inbuilt smart contracts and all.

One can wonder why this is not considered excellent news, or at least considered interesting enough to cover. Yeah, one can wonder. Or one can recognize the truth – C.R.E.A.M. – and then take action.

BUSINESSES ON ARDOR

  • Dominium

Aaand, it is FINALLY official – Jelurida announced that Dominium will be launching their global property blockchain platform on a new child chain of Ardor!

Veronica announced:

Ardor is officially preparing to launch a child chain in 2018 with Dominium, a global property leader. Through the creation of a new child chain, Dominium will utilize Ardor to establish a fully transparent blockchain based real estate platform. Dominium chose Ardor over Ethereum after extensive research and evaluation of both platforms. “Having closely followed several blockchain technologies from conception, including Ethereum, we strongly feel that Ardor is the platform with the best features for our business, especially the controlled trading of assets” says Joost de Kruiff, a Dominium Blockchain Advisor. The child chain is expected to be operational in over 120 countries by the end of 2018.

Press Release

Dominium states:

“For a property project with potentially millions of users and assets worldwide, blockchain bloat and functionality are of a primary concern to us”, says Dominium’s Managing Director, Mark Lloyd.

Dominium will not only become a marketplace for property sales and rentals, but will also register property management activities, thus creating a fully transparent historical chain of information, serving tenants, buyers and investors alike. Dominium will also allow third party fund creators to set up property funds with standardised documentation, under an umbrella licence.

Also mentioned in “Nasdaq Magazine” ;p

You can claim 25 free DOM tokens by registering on dominium.me (if have a number that is American or Canadian (+1) then you cannot receive the verification text) plus another 25 DOM on top for every referral you make. In an email to those that already registered, the Dominium team wrote:

[Our] emails will be sent in English, but will be translated by our country ambassadors and will be posted in their respective Facebook pages and Telegram channels. Do not forget to sign up to your respective social media channels to ensure you do not miss anything as these updates relate to everything to do with Dominium’s AML / KYC procedure, airdrop, Referral Program, reasons for choosing Ardor, token economy, Initial Token Offering (ITO) dates, PRE-ITO whitelisting, new advisors/ambassadors and our future marketing and licensing plans.

  • EZYcount Update

The white paper for EZYcount AI-automated blockchain accounting was released last week, detailing the novel Token-as-a-License (TaaL) approach to digital distribution, achievable by Ardor’s asset token functionality.

Hello Ardor Community,

Today we have published our White Paper V0.9.1. Our aim is to develop the EZYcount AI, an EZYcount-patented process to fully automate bookkeeping for the self-employed and small business owners. Access to this service will be granted through holding enough of our TaaL (Token-As-A-License) which will only be sold during the Pre-ICO and will be implemented as an asset on Ardor. The date for the Pre-ICO is not fixed yet. If that sounds interesting you are welcome to have a look at our WP. Accessible here: https://www.ezycount.ch/en/ico/

The MTR snapshot was recorded at Nxt block 1894000.

From their announcement:

Airdrop coins will be locked on the blockchain start. Every mined block will unlock 1/200,000 of locked balances. Thus, about 1000 initial distributed MTR will be unlocked every mined block. The whole initial distributed stake will be unlocked when miners receive 400,000,000 MTR…

For every 10 NXT in your wallet [at the snapshot block] you receive 1 MTR with the same passphrase on Metro blockchain.

  • Apollo (APL) Update

It is always a good thing when source code is released for the community to peer review it. One of the devs at Jelurida requests that knowledgeable Java devs review the Apollo private transactions. His own first impression is below.

Berzelius (from Jelurida):

Can any independent Java dev have a closer look at the recently published Apollo source code, in particular the so-called “private” transactions that they claim to have? My personal opinion is that it is a fine sample of snake oil, intended only to mislead users, but perhaps as a Jelurida dev I am biased.

https://github.com/ApolloFoundation/Apollo
What they seem to do is either encrypt, or replace with random data, the fields in the transaction JSON returned by the API to the client, however in the peer network, in memory, and in the database, everything is still visible and can’t possibly be any other way if the node is supposed to process these transactions so the user gets the impression his data are private, while in reality they are all on the blockchain and anyone with a modified software can read them.

SwissAlps:

Hi guys,
For the moment, the ArdorExchange cannot support your [free] APL coins because the APL blockchain seems to be permanently on a FORK state…   :disappointed: :disappointed: :disappointed:

Let’s see what happens.

APL coin was airdropped to NXT holders (snapshot: January 14th), and may turn out to be the next grand evolution of blockchain compression – or not. Before you decide to buy NXT to get JPL airdrops, please be careful not to just buy the rumor. Look into what’s coming before you buy NXT to get it because an explicitly great modified clone is obviously better than a valueless one.

DEVELOPMENT

  • Ardor Lite App – Apple Store

Last week 3rd party Ardor Lite came out of beta and the app is now available to download and use for Android users. The Apple App Store recently updated their terms for cryptocurrency apps, and Ardor Lite meets the spirit of the rules, but not the letter. Apple will only allow wallet apps for tokens that are listed by the US government, a very small list at the moment. Getting listed on a US-centric exchange like Coinbase will be the proof that Apple needs that ARDR is “legitimate.”

mrv777 wrote:

mrv777

So there is an approved cryptocurrency list for Apple apparently still. I was hoping it was gone, but I guess not. It is a little frustrating because they told me the same thing 6 months ago when I tried the first time and was denied, being told to try again in a few months. And that there was nothing I could do to help get Ardor approved.

  • Weekly Reminder

The Nxt and the Ardor client can connect to a remote node and run as a light client, just by checking a checkbox during installation.

Lior Yaffe:

If you are connecting to a remote node then you don’t have a node installed locally. If you have a node installed locally then there is no need to connect to a remote node.

Light client is good in two cases:
1. When for some reason you want to setup a node which does not download the whole blockchain. Possibly since you have a low power device.
2. During blockchain download, to use the wallet until it is fully downloaded, we also call this mode roaming client.

Light client provides an advantage over connecting to a remote node since the Javascript used by the wallet is the local Javascript and the Javascript downloaded from a remote node. This closes an attack vector of using malicious Javascript on the remote node like some phishing sites tend to do.

IN THE MEDIA

  • Lior Yaffe at Medium – NXT POS Block Skipping Attack Myth

Hey, if Vitalik, the creator of Ethereum, doesn’t know Nxt/Ardor but still is trash-talking it then this probably means that he considers us serious competition! Longtime readers of Ardor and Nxt know this to be true, but the hundreds of thousands to millions of Ethereum fanboys out there might not even know that a better solution than Casper (Ethereum’s long-delayed PoS algorithm) even exists.

The TL,DR; of the Medium article is that the vulnerability that Nxt / Ardor are susceptible to is interesting to note but ridiculously impractical to abuse. Do not take my word for it, but take the creator’s word:

Lior wrote:

In the Ethereum proof of stake FAQ, NXT is mentioned as suffering from a class of “Stake Grinding” attack. The author refers to this attack as “Block Skipping Attack”. In this article, I’ll explain why this imaginary attack is not practical.

….

This attack is not a serious threat.

Ethereum’s Casper POS algorithm may not suffer from this type of attack, but it has been in development for over three years and is not even close to being deployed to production. Meanwhile NXT is working successfully, in production since 2013 and Ardor, which is based on the same consensus algorithm, is working successfully in production since January 2018.

I call to the Ethereum team, please remove this unjustified criticism of the NXT proof of stake algorithm from your official documentation.

Nxter News – June 2018 (III): All Truly Great Thoughts Are Conceived While Walking

June (III)

Welcome, dear Nxters and other followers!

Walking is healthy, and for that alone everyone should do it. Walking also allows for you to clear your head and just be alone with your thoughts. When walking you can think about how to use blockchain to change the world, as a friendly suggestion – or you can think about space. Space is cool. Can you walk to space? These are great thoughts that you can ponder after you read this (you are welcome for the idea)! Also, no, you cannot walk into space, but what if the blockchain was used as a backbone to build a space elevator? That is an idea I came up with while walking! Perhaps the act of walking allows people to be more creative because you subconsciously know that you are moving forward, that progress is being made. Many great ideas were formulated from thoughts had while walking and blockchain is no different.

Last week the future transitioned into the past as many eventful things transpired. Nxter is pleased to announce that our new tool, SIGBRO OFFLINE, is now available for our security-minded readers (THIS SHOULD BE ALL OF YOU!), the Ardor.world website received new functionality, the ANG announced events, many Meetups occurred as Jelurida was notably present in Silicon Valley, the Triffic Founders Sale JUST started, ways for NXT holders to claim airdropped tokens from clones, Ardor Lite was fully released in the Google Play store, and much more!

Thank you for walking with us as we take you on a journey through the busy week that was.

  • Jelurida

Veronica Torras, from Jelurida, answered questions from the Slack community regarding long-awaited upgrades to the technical documentation, Jelurida controlled websites and a request for more public communication.

She wrote:

Regarding the technical [Ardor and child chain] documentation (…), Alberto and Jesse lead the project, with my help, and Lior/Tomi/Petko review as well of course. This is something that is going on. We start with the Ardor Technical Documentation, and would like to have a first version ready in 2-3 weeks, and then grow it from there. Both Jesse and Alberto have experience on this kind of writing.

Regarding the Jelurida website, you are totally right. It shouldn’t take this long. But the Jelurida founding team wanted to do it under their control and have several reviews, so it is taking longer. But I would like to start working on the Nxt and Ardor websites soon, I think Jelurida should take these projects. @Elizabeth before starting something let’s update each other next week.

I know that Jelurida needs to improve the communication with the community, like organizing an AMA regularly. I agree with you that we need get started on guides that make it easy to start to the different targets (users, developers, business people, etc…) Jelurida is evaluating 3 new candidates for writing quality content now. The priority is to make our technology more understandable, and write about use cases in different verticals, starting with the ones we are working on. Several new incorporations to the team might happen soon, hopefully in the coming weeks.

Nxter is introducing SIGBRO OFFLINE. This is a lightweight, downloadable tool for the Ardor blockchain platform that is designed to keep your passphrase (private key) safe by letting you create accounts, sign transactions, and perform other transactions on the Ardor parent chain / Ardor child chains in a secure, offline environment.

If you are still cautious about using this tool, a simple test is to use your browser’s “developers tools” functionality and go to the “Network” tab to see the requests that SIGBRO OFFLINE makes. We cannot, and do not, collect and store your identity or passphrase, for any reason, ever.

BUSINESSES ON ARDOR

Let us get down to business. Not only Jelurida is doing business here, actually, there are public blockchains, permissionless ones. Why not have an ICO on such a mature blockchain 3.0 technology with child chains?

  • Triffic ICO – Founders Sale Started

James Malach has just announced:

It gives me great pleasure to announce that the Triffic token sales site is finally open and our Founders Sale has started for people investing over $25,000.

If you would like to get a head start on our pre-ICO, then you can get on our whitelist by going to https://triffic.world and be ready for July 2nd.

Apart from updating the public about the upcoming ICO, the Triffic CEO wrote about how the transactional tokens, GPS, will be obtained by users of the Triffic app after the ICO. A very interesting concept that will, undoubtedly, drive (see what I did there?) people to use the Triffic app as they “gamify” their GPS experience.

James Malach (coinerz):

Apart from the ICO, nobody ‘buys tokens’. They are given to people who use the app in many different ways. Travelling about, creating vouchers, buying and selling in the marketplace, using personal services and much more. Unlike most tokens that are sold in an ICO, GPS Tokens actually have a use – they power the whole app ecosystem. Something that very much requires blockchain technology – and Ardor already provides much of the functionality we need.

GPS TOKEN PRESALE BEGINS JULY 2, 2018 AT 09:00PST

Public Sale Supply: 100,000,000 GPS Tokens / Total Supply: 1,000,000,000 GPS Tokens

  • Bitswift Child Chain Update

Bitswift had to change their coin ticker. You might know Bitswift’s child chain token as SWIFT on Bittrex, but soon they will change the name to BITS. This stems from a long and protracted legal dispute over the name SWIFT. More details below from the company.

Paul Busch wrote:

A decision was made to change the ticker from SWIFT to BITS.

Part of the reason – we are having so much grief over our trademark application so we hope this helps things along.

https://support.bittrex.com/hc/en-us/articles/360004823112-Rebranding-and-ticker-symbol-changes-Bitcoin-Cash-BCC-Legends-LGD-and-Bitswift-SWIFT-

Onward.

This was a large step for Bitswift in all (…) but as some of you may know we have been dealing with an ongoing legal battle over our name and trademark “Bitswift”.

Our companies were sent a cease and desist by the banks themselves saying we are confusing the public.

This is obviously a bunch of [BS] because no one thinks Bitswift is SWIFT financial people. In any event, it was costing a lot of money, time and stress. It turned out what they did not like was our ticker “SWIFT”.. so it was simple enough to change to “BITS” which is just as good, if not better. Now I hope the banksters leave us alone and we can get on with business.

I feel a little bullied around by big money, but hey, its not SWIFT we want anyway, its Bitswift and BITS will be far better known in these markets, I will ensure it.

BITS holder? If you held NXT at the IGNIS snapshot block, then you already are.

You can see your BITS balance in the Ardor client right now; just log in to ardor.nxter.org by using your Nxt account address (not your passphrase – we will not steal it but just do not do it!), and if you want to buy some Bitswift BITS, sell some Bitswift BITS, make transactions and use the Bitswift child chain features – do that too – you can even do it OFFLINE.

  • EZYcount, AI-Automated Blockchain Accounting

We mentioned EZYcount last week, as one of the upcoming ICO’s on the Ignis chain. The creator of EZYcount, Vivien, speaks to how the incredible flexibility of the Ignis chain makes it very compatible with his vision of scalable blockchain tech paired with AI for automated accounting.

Vivien wrote:

The Ardor PoS blockchain has a unique parent-chain and side-chain architecture that enables obsolete past transactions to be pruned, with both parties’ consent.

At EZYcount, we are very excited by the prospects blockchain technology can bring to the area of SME accounting. Individuals can buy a token (…) that enables business ledgers to be updated and monitored by participants and independent third parties. The potential to remove paperwork, additional costs and guarantee transparency for governments and regulators is too big a prize to give up. The Ardor blockchain enables us to carry this out in a way that would have been unimaginable five years ago.

  • CTC ATM – Pocket Developer Edition

Do you remember CtC? The Ignis asset token? Last week they announced a developers kit.

Ever since CtC moved from Ethereum to the Ignis child chain, they have made some progress in developing their real-world usecase: providing people with a way to change their spare coins into crypto at airports, to exchange crypto at CtC ATM’s, and to enable merchants worldwide to take crypto as payment. We are longingly waiting, as we present their latest update, a little sad to see how they will NOT ship the kit to the largest crypto markets.:

This is the developer’s edition which is made sorely for developers who wants to experiment, develop more with CtC Pocket.

The device comes with magnetic card reader, camera, basic android software, ctc basic software, receipt printer, ic card reader, batteries, sim cards slots, memory card slot and wifi function.

(…)

The machine is made sorely for experiment at this stage. We, the CtC will not be responsible for any transaction made with this device nor any conversion done to this device which leads to financial losses.

The shipment for the unit is sent by DHL and it will be around second week of July 2018.

We will not sell nor ship the unit to the United States, China, South Korea, Japan, North Korea, Syria, Libya, Yemen, Somalia, Congo, Zimbabwe, Pakistan and Iran.

  • Metrodex Airdrop

The Metro team announced welcome specifics about their upcoming airdrop, occurring this coming week!

The snapshot block is getting closer, NXT holders:

NXT Snapshot block: 1894000 (approximately on June 22nd).

100,000,000 MTR coins or 10% of the max circulation supply will be distributed to the holders of NXT. For each 10 NXT on your (own) wallet at the moment of the snapshot, you will get 1MTR.

Also, 100,000,000 MTR coins go to the Metro development team.

Airdrop coins will be locked on the blockchain start. Every mined block will unlock 1/200,000 of locked balances. Thus, about 1000 initial distributed MTR will be unlocked every mined block. The whole initial distributed stake will be unlocked when miners receive 400,000,000 MTR.

  • Apollo (APL)

Also, the Apollo team announced instructions on how NXT holders can claim airdropped APL tokens if they held NXT on January 14:

Let us emphasize what they link to from that tweet:

We recommend you NOT to login to any online node by using your passphrase, as this is the same passphrase that gives access to all your NXT, your other airdropped coins + probably also your holdings on the Ardor blockchain platform.

In order to move airdropped coins into a new account, we recommend you to create a new account address, set up a transaction of all your clone coins to this new account using the online clone client – but instead of signing online with your passphrase click “Advanced” > “Do Not Sign” > “Do Not Broadcast”.

Copy the Unsigned Transaction Bytes, and transfer them into the NxtBridge OFFLINE tool. Sign (offline) with your passphrase (private key), and copy the Signed Transaction Bytes back into the online clone client. Broadcast the Signed Transaction Bytes (cogwheel > Transaction Operations > Broadcast Transaction).

You have now moved your clone coins to a brand new account without exposing your passphrase to the clone server, or anyone on the internet even.

  • Weekly Reminder: Clones, How to Act

Free cloning is one of the issues that often comes up when talking about open-source software. And this is not the first time that we have seen this happen in our ecosystem. Many Nxt clones were created over the past four years that have taken advantage of our excellent team of developers for their own benefits. Sometimes these clone creators fail to even mention the Nxt blockchain when promoting their cloned version.

This is why Jelurida decided to create a new type of “coinleft” license, the JPL, in the spirit of the GNU General Public License, but better suited to protect the interests of open source cryptocurrency projects.

According to the JPL, any public clone of the Nxt blockchain will have to distribute 10% of all the tokens in that new cloned chain to NXT holders. Any public clone of the Ardor blockchain will have to distribute 10% of all the tokens in that new cloned parent chain platform to the IGNIS holders.

Full text of the JPL v1.1: Ardor _ Nxt

You usually can see your airdropped coins by logging into the online wallet from the cloned chain (e.g., for Apollo) with your Nxt/Ardor/Ignis account address. You never want to expose this to an online node from an untrusted source. With apologies to these third-parties, you are only trustworthy if you have proven to be so. If you want to, safely, move the coins, make an Unsigned Transaction on the clone’s client and sign it with NxtBridge Offline or (if it is an Ardor clone) with SIGBRO OFFLINE. Paste and broadcast the Signed Transaction Bytes or the Signed Transaction JSON with Nxter.org/wallet or any other Nxt/Ardor node. Should we make a “How-To” video?

Note, that if you want to support a clone by forging, you will have to download their client and server software.

  • Fintech Weekly – Token-as-a-License, Blockchain’s Next Evolution

The CEO of EZYcount, Vivien Fuhrer,  wrote an intro piece about his new blockchain concept – a Token-as-a-License (TaaL).  The new business models afforded by TaaL allow for a new breed of software start-up to sell license rights secured over the blockchain. The author claims that this will make digital goods and services instantly accessible to anyone anywhere in the world.

He wrote:

Customizable tokens are tokens that can be coded and defined freely by developers such as tokens on Ethereum, with its most popular example being the ERC20. Non customizable tokens are standard tokens which are created through an official interface such as the Ardor wallet to create tokens on the Ardor blockchain. The main advantage of customizable tokens is the possibility to fully customize the token to fit the needs of the business. The main advantage of non-customizable tokens is the security, speed and easiness to create a new token. TaaL combines all the aforementioned benefits of customizable and non-customizable token software through the blockchain.

Nxter News – June 2018 (II): Those Who Are Crazy Enough To Think They Can Change the World Usually Do

June (II)

Welcome, dear Nxters and other followers!

People tend to like the familiarity of routines and changing the world is often lumped in with “delusions of grandeur.” It was crazy for bicycle shop owners to think that man could fly and yet the Wright brothers built the first plane. It was crazy to think we could slip the bounds of our planet and go into the stars and yet we landed on the Moon! Maybe only crazy people change the world. If being crazy gets us things like flight and space travel, then why would you want to be normal? Not everyone can invent something new, but everyone can see ways to improve the world and everyone should be brave enough to act on those “crazy” ideas.

Last week in the realm of crazy ideas we have our favorite purveyor of distributed sequentially hashed file technology, Jelurida, promoting their products across the globe – with an emphasis this week on being in Silicon Valley. Nxter is going to change soon (DEAL WITH IT!) and we are teasing a new app ecosystem, the Ardor Bootcamp Udemy course is still a thing, the Triffic ICO is about to begin and is being well-reviewed, CoinDesk offhandedly insulted the Ardor community, and much more.

Thank you for being with us as we take you on a journey through the busy week that was. Just imagine what is next – it would be crazy of you to do so!

  • Jelurida

Since “a picture is worth a thousand words” below is 3000 words worth of pictures.

Last week in Lugano, Switzerland – there was the ICO Race, in part sponsored by Jelurida. Vivien from EZYcount (seen in the above picture next to our friend Travin Keith (Agavon) on the right) blogged about his experience:

As the crypto world is a bit crazy, the competition named ICO Race takes place in the big hall where 20 teams with each more ambitious projects than the other fighting with PowerPoints and shock statements. There’s nothing wrong; the team that finishes first receives 600’000 euros (partly cash, partly services)!

The whole day is going at incredible speed. Between meetings and encounters no time to sleep.

Travin is smiling and full of energy. He participates in a panel discussion in the afternoon. I look forward to hearing it. We take advantage of this appointment so that he introduces me to the team of Jelurida. Jelurida is the company behind Ardor, the blockchain technology we use. They just moved the head office to Lugano. During this day, I learn that it is not the only crypto company that recently moved to Lugano. It seems to me that the blockchain companies in Switzerland are mostly in Zug and Geneva and newly Lugano!

The day ends, the Pigzbe project wins the first prize. Bravo Pigzbe! I get back on a train and think back of this exciting day: many business cards in my pockets, tomorrow the thank you emails will be sent.

An update on the Ardor Bootcamp class on Udemy:

– I’m working on improving some of the videos. I pushed it out pretty fast and want to add more details and just improve it overall. Anticipate summer 2018 for a refresh.
– going to add videos based on the medium articles that @riker publishes
– so far have had about 40 signups, about 15 from ppl on here who already know about it, but about 25 who found it through Udemy and are getting exposed to Ardor for the first time!
– overall feedback has been positive. I’ve only had one review with less than 4 stars.
– going to build a series of other classes about the Jelurida stack: other child chains as well as other projects that are copying the NXT code like Apollo. I can advertise these on the other currencies Slack/Telegram to drive traffic to my classes, which will all reference the wonders of Jelurida and Ardor, hopefully increasing interest and exposure
– going to launch advertising for the class, starting with Twitter
– considering launching an affiliate program. Give people 100 unique coupon codes, I’ll send you 20% of profit for anyone you can get to sign up for the class (happy to convert USD to NXT or Ardor and send to you). Let me know if interested in this
– considering launching an Ardor Bootcamp Advertising Asset. Money raised from sales of the asset will be used to purchase ads. Profits split evenly between the asset via the dividend feature. Will also generate voting (restricted to those who own the asset) so that the group decides what kind of ads we want to run.
– overall, lots of cool stuff on the horizon for my Udemy classes and will focus on spreading the word about Ardor! I found that charging people for the info actually makes them more likely to use it, as opposed to free info that they ignore. Always open to suggestions or ideas!

BUSINESSES ON ARDOR

  • Dominium

Veronica, of Jelurida, told us that a child chain agreement is not signed, yet.

An important clarification here: Dominium is testing and evaluating the Ardor technology, it is NOT BASED YET in the Ardor technology, they are seriously considering it 🙂

Still, Dominium is advertising themselves as an Ignis asset and a property platform built on the Ardor blockchain. As seen in the above tweet, Dominium has seen a large interest in their airdrop and asset. Also – as is often the case – the huge interest revealed bugs, all of which they have crunched: email and SMS verification links did not work at all times – fixed, and 2FA with Google Authenticator has been added as an option, “whois” details for their website are now public, the site’s SSL certificate has been upgraded, and a translation module is in place.

Dominium also acknowledged that they will add different levels to their AML/KYC registration process. The details are below:

Another often heard complaint is the level of AML / KYC we are demanding. This is of course because we started from the position that everyone will be a potential investor for assets (securities). As we are also putting an international property portal on the platform, this will not always be the case, so next week we are separating the clearance levels into three levels as follows:

  • Clearance level 1
    • Requires the completion of your contact details and an upload of an image of you holding your ID next to your face for identification purposes (the image and ID need to be clear and legible)
    • This level allows you to purchase and trade utility tokens (DOM), list properties and rent (share) and buy properties
  • Clearance level 2
    • Requires the upload of a proof of address and proof of tax number
    • This level allows you to purchase and trade all assets (securities), although some jurisdictional restrictions may apply
  • Clearance level 3
    • Requires the completion of a number of questions and a declaration that you are a qualified investor
    • This level allows you to invest in all assets without restrictions

Once all this has been build, we will start working on the whitelisting for the Dominium ICO (and if you are fast the PRE-ICO) and shopping cart, as we will be dealing with the full functionality of the ICO ourselves. This is after all the best way to stress test the platform for future asset listings and their ICO’s.

This week and next we are doing more marketing and we look forward to welcoming many more users to our community.

  • Triffic ICO

By the time you read this, the updated Triffic whitepaper should be released. The Triffic ICO was well-reviewed and should be high on many people’s priority list for participation come July, when it officially begins.

GPS TOKEN PRESALE BEGINS JULY 2, 2018 AT 09:00PST

Public Sale Supply: 100,000,000 GPS Tokens / Total Supply: 1,000,000,000 GPS Tokens

  • EZYcount, AI-Automated Blockchain Accounting

This week, meet Vivien, CEO of EZYcount. Vivien wrote about their upcoming Pre-ICO, involving Tokens-as-a-License (TaaL).

Vivien wrote:

At EZYcount, we envisage accounting for the self-employed and small business owners as being automated and decentralised so they can focus on what matters instead of managing accounts.

Accounting can and should be completed automatically. Connection to payment systems, e-commerce websites and invoicing systems enable our AI to complete tasks automatically that would manually take hours to do. Bookings are created automatically and fully completed financial statements are available within a couple of clicks, and following analysis of your data, EZYcount AI can provide you with tips to improve your financial stability.

We support strong data ownership laws that protect individuals and ensure they have ownership of their data. Decentralisation ensures you will have full ownership of your data and can decide how it should be used.

In order to give an incentive to participate at our Pre-ICO, we decided to take an unconventional approach. Instead of just granting the Pre-ICO participants a discount we will give out a completely different Token during the Pre-ICO.

The Token available during the Pre-ICO is the Token-as-a-Licence (TaaL) which represents a lifelong and tradable license for our AI automated blockchain accounting solutions. The function of the Token available during the main ICO will have a different functionality which will be shared with our Community later on.

Their whitepaper is soon to be released – you can sign up to receive it here.

  • Metrodex

Metro, the Nxt clone and hybrid DEX we have been writing about over the last couple of weeks, has released their source code and a reward program to incentivize devs to take a look at it, and go for a bug-hunt.

Metro wrote:

We’re happy to announce that our code has been released on GitHub! https://github.com/metrosoftware

We also have a reward program for finding bugs in our code. You’ll get 1,000, 5,000 or 15,000 MTR for each bug depending on its severity.

Bounty hunters – check the code and enter their discussion in this BCT thread.

  • Apollo (APL) Airdrop – DONE!

Apollo claims to be the first cryptocurrency with all the features of blockchain in one place.

Nowhere in their whitepaper is Nxt mentioned, however as a veteran Nxter, or just slightly familiar with the Nxt Reference Software wallet and features, reading through Apollo’s materials is like one big deja vu. The Apollo team has honored the JPL and distributed 10% of their coins to NXT holders.

The plan is to add further privacy features and – eventually – replace the Nxt protocol.

Having utilized NXT technology as our base, we are developing Hermes to be it’s replacement. Hermes will allow the Apollo blockchain to grow faster and healthier the larger the Apollo user base grows, rather than slower as with most cryptocurrencies on the market. Where as our current speed may be 20 to 30 seconds on average (transaction times will differ) Hermes will allow for transaction speeds of 2-3 seconds. Our goal in integrating Hermes is to become the safest, fastest and most private cryptocurrency on the market.

You can see your airdropped APL coins by logging into https://apollowallet.org with your Nxt account address.

Now copy the unsigned Transaction Bytes, and transfer them into the NxtBridge OFFLINE tool. Sign with your passphrase (private key), and copy the signed transaction bytes back into the online clone client. Broadcast the signed transaction bytes (cogwheel > Transaction Operations > Broadcast Transaction). You have now moved your clone coins to a brand new account without exposing your passphrase to the clone server, or anyone on the internet even.

Should we make a “How-To” video?

Nxt community member and developer, SwissAlps, announced an APL exchange in nxtforum:

What are you going to do with APL coins ????

  • keep them
  • sell them, in this case you can now use https://nxttracker.com/ArdorExchange.html, I have just implemented this !!!
  • buy some more, in this case you can wait until I have bought enough APL (my plan is to get 1M APL), then you will be able to buy APL using BTC, ARDR or NXT  ;D ;D ;D

  • Volp Coin Update

Last week we mentioned VOLP coin for the first time, as the team issued a placeholder asset on the Ignis chain, which will be their crowdsale token before they launch their new protocol – a hybrid between a Nxt clone and their Volp AI protocol. There is no date for the ICO or the airdrop to NXT holders yet, but the Volp team decided to enlighten us with some more details last week about their project.

They wrote:

Recently, a user asked questions that encouraged us in advance to write more about the Volp Protocol, we believe that this information is important for everyone.

With the Volpcoin beta, we obtained through parallel simulator results up to 2 million transactions per compacted block with dimensions of approximately 5 kB. These data refer to the tests applied in Volpcoin beta through a pilot implementation of the Volp protocol.

We use a hybrid VM kernel that we built from scratch to run in symbiosis with the Volp protocol along with a compiler of our own, specific to this application. Soon we will make available all the technical data on the website and the behavior collected by us during the period that volpcoin beta was active.

Note: The size of the results obtained in the compression of the Volp protocol may seem empirical, but it’s one of the most important things that we could project in the period of 2002-2006. We are at this very moment, performing load stress on the protocol, so we can identify underlying anomalies.

IN THE MEDIA

  • Lior Yaffe at Medium – Stateful vs. Stateless Blockchain Contracts, Or what is wrong with Ethereum Contracts and how the new Ardor Lightweight Contracts can fix this

In Lior’s latest Medium post he explains the pitiful state (pun intended) of smart contracts. Technical in the extreme, but extremely informative.

Lior wrote:

Ethereum Contracts are Stateful

….

To summarize, relying on the contract to save its state is a bad idea, it opens up many attack vectors and manipulation options and also causes constant risk of locking funds in a contract because of difficult to find bugs.

Ardor Lightweight Contracts to the rescue

Since lightweight contracts are executed by a single node not by all nodes, there is no risk of flooding the blockchain with duplicate messaging transactions. As you can see the contract is invoked, does some processing, submits some transactions and quits. The next invocation of the contract does not rely on any data saved into the contract itself so can run in parallel.

We believe that the stateless approach to contract execution used by Ardor will prove safer and more scalable compared to other stateful approaches.

  • CoinDesk Mentions (Insults) Ardor

Wow…just wow. CoinDesk is probably the preeminent name in the blockchain space and to be humiliated by them is – initially – an affront. The gist of this article is supposed to be the toxicity of cryptocurrency fanbases on Twitter – a valid point. But the explicit accusations of our Nxter community as being the champion of a toxic, social media “bias train” is a step too far. To demonize an entire community based on a tweet is a very poor metric to casually dismiss the legitimate desires of many. Do not be the troll, Mr. Casey – if people ask you to pay attention to a PoS blockchain 3.0 project that has spent more effort in developing a quality product since 2013 than it has on the marketing / hype-train then perhaps it is worth doing so. Far be it from us to tell you what to do and what to dismiss but your “casual” dismissal of an entire ecosystem based on such petty and petulant things as some tweets is frankly insulting and unprofessional. Kindly, don’t mix your emotions up with lack of research, or, in the worst case, it could be read as a bad attempt at spinning.

Here’s the infamous comment:

OK, Ardor fans. You have your wish. Your favorite token is getting a mention on CoinDesk.

Not, perhaps, for the reasons you want. But they do say all publicity is good publicity. So, there you have it. The response to my column last week on layer-two solutions was mostly positive with the usual dose of critics, but it was the Ardor tribe who caught my attention when one reader’s tweet, complaining that I hadn’t mentioned the blockchain platform, prompted others to pile on with accusations of my bias and ignorance.

  • The Wiremaster – Buy and Sell a Property on Blockchain

Will buying and selling property on the blockchain be the “killer app” that makes blockchain a “must have” piece of technology? This article insists that a future of listing real estate on a blockchain and using tethered tokens like AEUR, and stateless Lightweight Contracts, our suggestion, can propel the homebuying experience onto the blockchain. Read an Ardor use case.

The Wiremaster wrote:

Let’s suppose that you found your dream apartment in Germany and after you had a look at it and you’re convinced that it is the one, you decide to go on with the process

Imagine that we had a digital identity on the Ardor platform and that there was a land registry right into the Ardor blockchain with each property being represented by a singleton asset.

So after you have agreed on the sale price:
– the bank sets up a Phased Transaction (bank, buyer, seller and notary have to approve) in AEUR (Ardor) towards the seller and confirm the mortgage amount.
– the buyer sets up a Phased Transaction (all parties have to approve — as above) in AEUR towards the seller with the deposit agreed
– seller sets up a Phased transaction (all parties have to approve — as above) with the transfer of the singleton asset, representing the property, to the buyer
(…)
In this way all verifications can be done and the final approval would allow the transfer of funds and the property asset. By transferring the singleton asset, the official property registry is automatically updated as it’s in the blockchain itself.

What could come next, is a full trustless property sale where the notary would not be needed. Once all transactions are approved by all parties, they will be executed at the Phased transaction’s predefined deadline. E.g. after the deadline is reached, the money from the buyer and the bank are transferred to the seller and the property ownership is being transferred to the buyer.

  • 101blockchains – Ardor vs Ethereum: What Are the Pros And Cons?

A simple refresher on the business use cases of Ardor – easy to implement and easy to maintain. Our readers know this, but it is nice to see the larger community realizing that Ethereum is not the “prodigal child” of the blockchain space.

They wrote:

Ardor being an evolution of NXT, which was the first [altcoin] ever built from scratch, comes with a lot of improvements made possible by the alteration of the underlying blockchain. For starters, it frees itself from much data to enhance efficiency and speed through the creation of multiple chains.

In contrast, Ethereum just like Bitcoin stores and processes transactions on a single blockchain. For this reason, it currently has a capacity of 121 GB blockchain which means revalidation must take place for all new nodes. This explains its scalability issues.

Security with Ardor blockchain is also on another level thanks to the parent-child chains that separate transactions and data from one another.
