Good day, good people!
For 6 months I haven't posted on nxter.org. That's a world record for me.
So, yesterday I soft-launched the redesign of the Nxter.org website.
Still some things to be done, but ain't there always. It's about time to get re-started.
If you're in ardornxt.slack you know I've been working on cleaning up the website, which has been running since Jan 2014, and a few side projects that I believe can benefit our ecosystem. I couldn't find time to do all this while also writing Weekly Newsletters. Each Weekly used to be as big as a magazine, and besides the writing, pulling everything together was a time-consuming team effort. Jose. Ruben. Me. Sometimes James.
I'd like to present the steps I have taken, and I want to encourage you to comment, test everything, interact, and become part of the project in any way you feel is right for you.
The new Nxter.org has 3 main sections:
They should be self-explaining.
I invite you to take a look around, to get the idea, and in a few days I'll also invite you to peek inside Nxter.org, chat, discuss ideas, give feedback and express wishes, and to do this, all you need is a free Ardor account and a free app. I'll elaborate on that shortly.
I am determined to achieve a number of goals with all this. I will elaborate on each of those goals in separate posts during the coming week. First of all, let's get the magazine rolling again! In my humble opinion (as an oldschool Nxter), I believe in not just waiting for the news but also creating the news. Play more. Build more. And talk more about what is going on, because we have the tech and the projects to bumrush the show! The world should know about it, but no other media are writing about Nxt, Ignis, Ardor, or the rest of our ecosystem. The reason? Who knows. One specific goal for Nxter Magazine is to get featured on Google News. We will need your help with that.
We're a small but growing ecosystem. We must keep onboarding new people - users and developers, and I have been wanting to make it easier for them to use and develop on the public blockchains. Ha! - haven't we all! 🙂 So we're developing some tools for that (me, scor2k, and mrv777 initially) - and you can help us test them and will hopefully also enjoy using those tools with the Ardor platform, and maybe contributing to them. I look forward to letting you get familiar with the SIGBRO app, and to keep developing more services that are compatible with it.
We need incentives. For us, and for newcomers. But we have tokens for that. And IMHO tokens like IGNIS should be passed around and used. HODLing is one thing, and it's good, but having a blockchain (and the world's most feature-rich and advanced) without a lot of transactions on it, is... a pity. And it looks bad. Incentives can be enjoying great projects like the Tarasca DAO, SmartVoting, Nxterpuzzles, or finding Ardorgate useful in real life, but it can also be as simple as getting tips and rewards for helping and for doing great work.
The community should decide if it wants to follow the path showed by [BCNext] or stick to Bitcoin legacy (...) in hope to become rich by doing nothing.
Bitcoin was a genious invention but implementation became corrupted by people whose aim was to make money, not bitcoins but dollars.
Most N[e]xters that hold NXT, IGNIS, or ARDR today, are passively HODLING on exchanges and waiting for Jelurida to take care of business and make them rich. Seriously... IGNIS are the most awesome blockchain 2.0 tokens, not stupid placeholders for the real thing. They are useable in the advanced NRS client and ready to be implemented into real-world applications. Would you feel cheated if you USED some, while the passive investors didn't, and then they got richer than you? If you do, we're doomed. Blockchains are doomed. Decentralized networks are doomed.
At least realize that by simply leasing your ARDR forging power to a forging hub you support your own investment, and if you think I am wrong, go ahead and publish your OPINION on the matter, and we can discuss.
Yeah. I guess I have opinions. But on the topic of incentives - if knowledge is not it, or building decentralized applications that the world has never seen before, or being at the very forefront of blockchain's evolution isn't it - Nxter will bring easy tipping back, and also announce some bounties for premium contributions. The last goal is to build and grow the blockchain economy.
Without cooperation Nxt [editor's note: and Ardor] becomes weak and can be easily attacked. It’s like a system in unstable equilibrium, if people stop to care about cooperation then Nxt will fail very fast.
I am one contributor. I am returning to my original intention with Nxter. I have an inbuilt interest in people, politics, blockchain, decentralization, and collaboration across borders and cultures. I can't write code. It takes me forever to write a post like this and it's probably still full of Broken English, because my English skills aren't that great afterall. But I do it. It would be better if more people did it too. I don't own an impressive stake, I've been contributing skills, not trading, during the ups and downs. Some are here to get rich only. A lot, to be exact. Rich from doing nothing, even rich from posting complaints about the lack of marketing efforts for NXT/IGNIS/ARDR instead of using their precious time on adding their skills to the mix. Me, I am honored to do my part, here at the forefront of the blockchain revolution. Really - take a look at the PUBLIC PoS blockchain framework the core developers are building!
When I joined the community, there was an explosion of ideas, discussions, promises, and visions. Today, it’s actually possible to create most of what we imagined, on the blockchain we wanted. Today the tech is here, with Ignis and the Ardor blockchain platform, and the world will slowly realize it - sooner if we show it to them. We have the tech and the knowledge, the skills, to lift this blockchain project. With enthusiasm. And with co-work.
Nxter will continue as a leg of the community starfish, and Nxter is back. For the newbies, the community and the whole ecosystem. Join us, with what you are good at.
Stay tuned.
