In August 2014 BTER.com was robbed of 51 million NXT. Those Nxters who wished to ‘roll back’ the blockchain were offered an alternative version of NRS which reorganized the blocks and removed the transactions tainted by the theft. Many Nxters were holding NXT on bter.com but after some reflection, only a few Nxters adopted the alternative NRS.
